Arizona Sunshine Is Leaving VR — The Co-op Zombie Series Hits PC and Consoles in 2026

Arizona Sunshine

Arizona Sunshine

Game: Arizona Sunshine (PC / Console Edition) Developer / Publisher: Vertigo Games Genre: Third-Person Co-op Zombie Shooter Platforms: PC (Steam · Epic) · PlayStation 5 · Xbox Series X|S · Nintendo Switch 2 Release: Later 2026 Based On: Arizona Sunshine VR series (Arizona Sunshine VR 2)

Vertigo Games has announced that Arizona Sunshine — the acclaimed zombie-slaying VR series — is making its full jump to PC and consoles later this year, rebuilt from the ground up for third-person play on your big screen. Coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, the new game brings the franchise’s signature co-op chaos, dark humour, and limb-severing carnage to a completely new audience without a VR headset in sight.

The announcement lands with a reveal trailer and a clear statement of intent: this is not a port or a conversion. Built on the story of Arizona Sunshine VR 2 — now reimagined in third-person with split-screen local co-op, online co-op, and a fully playable dog companion in co-op mode — this version of Arizona Sunshine is designed from scratch for the couch. Meet Sunny, his zombie-chewing dog Buddy, and an Arizona full of undead Freds waiting to be reintroduced to a machete.

Sunny, Buddy, and the Freds of Arizona

The game follows Sunny — a dark-humoured survivor who has spent far too long alone in the desert talking to the undead he’s named “Fred” — and Buddy, his fiercely loyal zombie-chomping dog, on a sun-drenched gore-splattered road trip across the state of Arizona. The story is built around survival, loneliness, and the bond between man and dog, delivered with the franchise’s signature irreverent humour. It’s the same core DNA that made the VR originals so memorable, translated into a narrative experience that can now be played on a TV from a couch.

The third-person perspective is the key departure from the VR games. For the first time, you can watch Sunny dodge, weave, and blow zombie heads off with cinematic flair rather than being directly behind his eyes. The shift opens up new gameplay possibilities — including co-op scenarios where one player controls Sunny and the other plays as Buddy — and gives the game a more approachable entry point for players who haven’t touched the VR originals.
