Keen Games celebrates the second anniversary of its hit survival RPG with a roadmap reveal, 5 million players, and the promise of console editions later this year.
Time flies in the Shroud. It has been exactly two years since players first awoke as Flameborn, stepping out into the fog-covered lands of Embervale to reclaim a lost kingdom. Since its Early Access debut in January 2024, Enshrouded has evolved from a promising survival-crafting title into a genre heavyweight, amassing a community of over 5 million players.
Now, developers Keen Games are ready to light the final beacon. In a major announcement celebrating the game’s second anniversary, the studio has confirmed that Enshrouded will officially leave Early Access and launch its 1.0 version in Autumn 2026.
This announcement is accompanied by a reflective new developer diary, a fresh roadmap outlining the final stretch of development, and confirmation that console players will be able to join the adventure later this year.
The Road to 1.0: Autumn 2026
For two years, the question on every fan’s mind has been: “When is the full release?” Today, Keen Games provided the answer. The team has set a release window of Autumn 2026 for the 1.0 launch, marking the end of its Early Access phase and the beginning of a new chapter.
“Today, Keen Games is excited (and slightly nervous) to inform everyone to expect the full launch of Enshrouded in Autumn 2026,” the studio stated in a press release. “The breakout success of the game’s Early Access launch has allowed the team to execute and expand on Enshrouded’s original concept, making the second half of 2026 the ideal spot to realize the team’s vision.”
The developers were quick to clarify that version 1.0 is not the end of the road. Rather, they view it as a “new chapter” that will serve as a foundation for future improvements, additional content, and long-term support.

One Final Early Access Update: Adventure Sharing & Polish
Before the grand 1.0 launch, there is still work to be done. Keen Games announced plans for one final major content update for the Early Access build, scheduled for Q2 2026. This will be the eighth major update since the game’s inception, and it is shaping up to be a significant one.
The headline feature for this update is Adventure Sharing, a system highly requested by the community. While full details are still under wraps, the developers confirmed that the first iteration of this feature will allow players to “easily explore the bases of their fellow Flameborn.” Given Enshrouded‘s robust voxel-based building system—which has allowed players to construct everything from cozy hobbit holes to sprawling gothic cathedrals—the ability to share and visit these creations is a game-changer for the community.
Beyond new features, the Q2 update will focus heavily on refinement. Players can expect:
- Balancing: Tweaks to ensure a fair challenge across all biomes.
- Combat Improvements: Further refinement of the action-RPG mechanics.
- Performance Optimization: Ensuring the game runs smoothly on a wider range of hardware ahead of the 1.0 push.
- Polishing: Fixing lingering bugs and smoothing out the rough edges.
“On their development adventure, Keen Games has learned that the road is rarely as straightforward as a map suggests,” the team noted regarding their evolving roadmap. “However, any map is better than none.”
5 Million Flameborn Strong
The journey to this point has been fueled by a massive player base. Keen Games announced that Enshrouded has surpassed 5 million players since its January 2024 launch.
This level of success for an indie survival title is rare, placing it in the upper echelons of the genre alongside giants like Valheim and Ark. The studio expressed its immense gratitude to the community, acknowledging that the game’s expanded scope would not have been possible without this support.
“Without the support of over five million players, the journey would not have been possible,” the team said. “The team is again humbled and expresses their immense gratitude to the many Flameborn who have fanned the flames and stoked the fires through playing Enshrouded, providing feedback, and being a part of the community.”
To celebrate, the studio released a 2nd Anniversary Developer Diary, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the last two years of development, the challenges they overcame, and the fun stats generated by millions of players exploring Embervale.

Immediate Changes: Tomorrow’s Patch
While the 1.0 launch is the long-term goal, players won’t have to wait until autumn for improvements. Keen Games detailed a patch releasing tomorrow that addresses immediate feedback and adds some fun extras.
Patch Highlights Include:
- Combat Tweaks: Modifications to damage number visibility, giving players clearer feedback during fights.
- Animation Improvements: Better telegraphing for blocking and parrying, as well as improved accuracy for projectile spells and attacks.
- New Vanity Armor: Players can talk to the Huntress NPC to acquire a stylish new set.
- Exploding Barrels Fix: In a humorous note, the devs promised that “randomly exploding barrels placed will explode less randomly.” They added a disclaimer: “After applying the patch, if it does explode, know that it was probably your fault.”
- Bug Fixes: A massive sweep of bug fixes to improve stability and performance.
Console Editions on the Horizon
Perhaps the most exciting update for non-PC gamers is the confirmation of console editions. The press release explicitly mentions “current and curious future players hailing from PC and/or console communities,” and teases that “lots of cool Enshrouded news and content still to come in 2026 (yes, console editions news as well).”
With the 1.0 launch set for Autumn 2026, it is highly likely that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions will launch simultaneously or shortly after the full PC release, finally bringing the voxel-based survival experience to the living room.
The Transitional Era
As Enshrouded enters what Keen Games calls its “transitional era,” the focus shifts from adding raw content to refining the experience for a global, multi-platform launch. The Feature Upvote tool remains active, and the developers are encouraging players to continue submitting feedback via Steam, Reddit, and Discord.
For a game that started as a survival crafting experiment blending Zelda-like exploration with Valheim-style building, Enshrouded has grown into something unique. With a clear destination now in sight, the next few months will be crucial as Keen Games prepares to lift the shroud completely.
Current players can download the new patch tomorrow, while prospective Flameborn can look forward to the definitive 1.0 experience arriving in Autumn 2026.
