KOEI TECMO and Team NINJA have officially revealed Nioh 3, the next entry in their acclaimed dark samurai action RPG franchise. Set to release in early 2026 on PlayStation®5 and PC via Steam®, Nioh 3 thrusts players into a newly realized open world during Japan’s brutal Sengoku period—where legend, war, and the supernatural collide.
Alongside the announcement, a limited-time free alpha demo is now available exclusively for PS5 until June 18, 2025, giving players an early chance to test the game’s revamped systems and give feedback directly to the developers.
Welcome to the Crucible
In Nioh 3, you play as a young warrior destined to rise as Shogun, navigating a dangerous land cursed by yokai and conflict. A new area known as The Crucible pushes both skill and resolve to the limit, offering some of the game’s most brutal combat scenarios yet.
Two Styles, One Warrior
A major evolution for the series, Nioh 3 introduces dual combat systems:
- Samurai Style: A refined take on the series’ classic weapon-based gameplay. New techniques like Arts Proficiency and Deflect let you parry with deadly timing and dominate with sharpened martial prowess.
- Ninja Style: Focused on agility, this style allows for evasive movement and unrelenting speed. Techniques like Mist (clone decoy) and Evade (precision dodging) bring a fast, calculated edge to combat.
Switching between styles is seamless and strategic, offering adaptability in battle against a variety of enemies and yokai bosses.
Demo Now Live
The PS5-exclusive demo includes:
- A hands-on look at open-world exploration
- A chance to try both combat styles
- A preview of the evolving character creation system
Players who complete the demo will unlock a special in-game helmet for use in the full release.
