The long-awaited sequel takes home the Steam Awards 2025 Game of the Year, while Hades II and Baldur’s Gate 3 continue to impress the community.
The votes are in, and the Steam community has spoken—loudly. Valve announced today that a staggering 43.8 million votes were cast across all categories for the 2025 Steam Awards, crowning a new slate of fan-favorite titles.
Taking the top honors this year is Team Cherry’s long-awaited metroidvania, Hollow Knight: Silksong. After years of anticipation, the game not only secured the prestigious Game of the Year award but also proved its difficulty by winning Best Game You Suck At.
Big Wins for Sequels and Indies
It was a strong year for sequels and stylized indie hits. Supergiant Games’ Hades II claimed the Best Game on Steam Deck award, cementing its status as the portable king. Meanwhile, the cooperative mountain-climbing adventure PEAK took home the Better With Friends trophy.
In the VR space, the claymation-style dark fantasy The Midnight Walk won the VR Game of the Year award. At the same time, Baldur’s Gate 3 continued to enjoy strong popularity years after launch, earning the Labor of Love award for its ongoing updates and community support.
