Valve’s massive holiday sale is officially underway, offering discounts across the entire store through January 5, 2026.
Hide your wallets (or don’t)—the Steam Winter Sale 2025 is currently in full swing. Valve’s annual end-of-year event kicked off last week on Thursday, December 18, bringing deep discounts to thousands of games across every genre imaginable.
If you haven’t checked your wishlist yet, now is the time. The sale runs through the holiday season and into the new year, ending on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 10 a.m. Pacific.
“Dad Joke Territory”
In the official announcement, the Steam Team leaned heavily into the sale’s humor, bridging the calendar year.
“It’s a sale so big we needed two years for it!” the announcement read. “So huge, we couldn’t fit it into 2025! So giant, we had to say ‘hey, how does NEXT YEAR sound for ending this thing?'”
While they admitted this was technically true but perhaps a bit misleading (“The Steam Winter Sale is NOT two years long”), they fully embraced entering “Dad Joke territory.”
What to Expect
The Winter Sale is traditionally one of the two most significant events on the Steam calendar (alongside the Summer Sale). Players can expect:
- Store-wide Discounts: From indie gems to AAA blockbusters.
- The Steam Awards: Voting is open for the finalists of the 2025 Steam Awards.
- Seasonal Items: Special stickers, profile frames, and trading cards in the Points Shop.
