Dmitri Ogorodnikov and German Terekhov have officially left Battlestate Games to establish a brand-new studio, Nomion Games. Their first project promises to push risk and pressure to the absolute limit.
If you’ve spent any significant time raging at the “Head, Eyes” death screen in Escape from Tarkov, you likely know the names behind the community’s communication. After years of managing the chaotic, highly demanding player base of Battlestate Games, Head of PR Dmitri Ogorodnikov and PR Manager German Terekhov have officially departed the studio to forge their own path.
Today, German reached out to us directly with an exciting press release. The duo has established a brand-new development studio, Nomion Games, and is already deep into the prototyping phase of a completely original IP.
While the details are still heavily classified, here is everything we know so far about Nomion’s debut project.
‘Rush is Real’: A New Breed of Tactical Pressure
According to German’s email, the creation of Nomion Games stems from a deeply held belief that “creative potential, accumulated experience, and ambition should not be put on hold.” The team was looking for the freedom to take risks and create something truly unprecedented in the shooter market.
Dmitri expanded on this philosophy over on his X account, officially dropping the working title for their debut project: Rush is Real.
For fans of hardcore extraction shooters and high-stakes tactical gameplay, Dmitri’s description of the game should immediately pique your interest. He clarified that Nomion is not interested in building just “another shooter.” Instead, Rush is Real is being designed from the ground up as a game where risk and psychological pressure are pushed to the absolute extreme.
Perhaps the most intriguing detail from Dmitri’s tease is the concept that “inaction is deadly,” and that “the audience and the world itself can be just as dangerous as any enemy.”
Whether this implies some form of Twitch/audience integration, dynamic environmental hazards, or a completely new take on PvPvE mechanics remains to be seen. But coming from veterans who helped shape the incredibly punishing landscape of Tarkov, a game built entirely around the adrenaline of risk-versus-reward is a massive selling point.
The Road Ahead for Nomion Games
Currently, Rush is Real is in the very early stages of development. German was completely transparent about the studio’s heavy focus on experimentation and prototyping. While the overall direction of the game has been locked in, the team is intentionally leaving plenty of room for flexibility and the pursuit of better design solutions.
To bring this vision to life, Nomion Games is actively forming a team of developers with extensive experience on major AAA projects.
Open Dialogue and Next Steps
One of the most refreshing aspects of this announcement is the studio’s commitment to transparency. Both German and Dmitri emphasized their desire to build a close, open relationship with the gaming community right from the start. They promised that in the coming months, Nomion will begin sharing regular insights into the development process and discussing what truly matters for the future of Rush is Real.
(Note for our BSG contacts: German confirmed that any ongoing matters regarding Escape from Tarkov should be directed to the updated contacts provided in his previous transition email sent last week.
As someone who spends a dangerous amount of time evaluating shooter mechanics, I will be keeping a very close eye on what Nomion Games is cooking up. The tactical shooter space is ripe for a massive shake-up, and a team completely untethered from corporate caution might be exactly what the genre needs.
