Publishers New Tales and developers Emeteria have officially announced their first original title, Fading Echo, during the Future Games Show. Set to launch in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, this vibrant action-adventure blends puzzle-solving, fast-paced combat, and surreal exploration in a system-driven world where water isn’t just a visual effect — it’s the core mechanic.
In Fading Echo, you play as One, a young Legend born into a broken world and gifted with the ability to control water in all its forms. From navigating tight spaces as a single droplet to crashing down in a vapor blast, players will master fluid motion across ever-evolving landscapes. Whether you’re exploring the floating islands of Corel or shifting between realities within the Echoverse, adaptation is key. Environments react, mutate, and reward creativity at every turn.
“We wanted to build a world that doesn’t just look alive — it behaves like it,” said Emeteria Studio Head, Sylvain Sechi.
🌀 A World Shaped by Water — and You
Fading Echo sets itself apart with its focus on elemental chain reactions, where substances like lava, corruption, or toxic waste interact dynamically with you and your surroundings. Freeze enemies in place, explode volatile mixtures, or weave environmental hazards into your combat strategies.
Gameplay is framed around a fluid combat system that evolves with player choices. The more you unlock, the more versatile your movement and attacks become — balancing offense, mobility, and manipulation.
🌍 Dive into the Echoverse
The fractured Echoverse challenges players to adjust constantly. Each dimension obeys different physical laws, distorting logic and creating fresh environmental puzzles. Fading Echo encourages players to “go with the flow” both narratively and mechanically, offering multiple solutions and dynamic traversal.
The game’s bold, comic-inspired visuals bring this strange world to life with vibrant style and surreal edge, supported by a stellar voice cast including Samantha Béart, Laura Bailey, Matt Mercer, and more.
“This isn’t just our debut IP,” said Cédric Maréchal, CEO of New Tales, “It’s a declaration of the kinds of games we believe in — inventive, daring, and full of heart.”
