Tito’s fast-paced, blood-soaked FPS just dropped a major content patch. It’s time to crash a prison rave, ride ziplines, and finally kick your enemies into spiked barrels.
If you haven’t played PIGFACE yet, the premise is as beautifully simple as it is brutal. You are a terrible person who has done awful things, and your past has finally caught up to you. You wake up in an abandoned warehouse covered in your own blood with a bomb drilled into your head. The phone rings. You have a job to do.
Developed by solo-dev Tito (@titolovesyou), PIGFACE is a kinetic, lightning-fast, ultra-violent first-person shooter that demands you fulfill contracts for your hostage-takers by any means necessary. Today, the game got a massive injection of free content with the release of the Penitentiary & Kicking Update.
As the title subtly implies, the update brings a brand-new story mission set inside a prison and introduces one of the community’s most highly requested combat mechanics: the almighty kick.
Here is a breakdown of everything new waiting for you in the blood-splattered corridors of the Jumpsuit HQ.
Crash the Rave: The Penitentiary Level
The centerpiece of today’s update is the brand-new Penitentiary level. Your handler has finally located the HQ for the “Jumpsuit” faction, and it’s time to clean house.
The level design offers plenty of branching routes to complete your objectives, packed with nooks and crannies to scavenge for junk and meds. You will even be traversing the exterior of the prison via newly added ziplines. Keep your eyes peeled while exploring, as Tito has confirmed there is a nod to Arkane’s stealth masterpiece Dishonored hidden somewhere in the level.
But the real star of the Penitentiary is the atmosphere. The prison has been converted into a massive rave, backed by a phenomenal 12-minute megamix of club songs produced by composer crisp (@still_crisp). To keep the energy fresh, the megamix starts at a random point every single time you load the level, ensuring it always feels like a never-ending, chaotic party.
Put Your Foot Down: The Kicking Mechanic
Guns are great, but sometimes you just need to put your boot through someone’s chest.
The update finally introduces kicking to the combat sandbox. You can now utilize the spike walls and spike barrels strewn across the game’s jobs to instantly execute enemies that get too close. To fully lean into the new mechanic, the developer has reworked the Jackrabbit mask. Equipping it now grants 2X Kicking Power and a +15% Jump Height boost, at the cost of -20% Health. You can essentially punt people into orbit.
Bonus Mission: The Subway Arena
If crashing a prison rave isn’t enough bloodshed for one day, the update also introduces the game’s very first optional job. Unlocked after completing the train station, this bonus mission takes place in a subway that has been converted into a gladiatorial arena.
The arena introduces deadly new environmental hazards, including stationary flamethrowers and giant sawblades. By utilizing the new kick mechanic or the newly added “Junk Shield,” you can force enemies directly into these traps to satisfy the arena’s optional objectives. The character running the arena is actually voiced by Tito himself!
Speaking of voice acting, the update also features new vocal performances by Zach (@ZaccActs) and Skylar (@SkylarArtaggat), bringing the more sane and cocksure Jumpsuit faction to life, contrasting perfectly with the unhinged Smilers voiced by Jackson and Dela in previous builds.
Patch Notes Highlights
Alongside the new levels and mechanics, the update brings a massive wave of quality-of-life improvements, weapon rebalances, and bug fixes:
- New Arsenal: The M16 has been added to the game (unlocked after completing the Penitentiary), along with new gear such as Pills and a Cowgirl Hat.
- Weapon Tuning: The TEC-9 is now fully automatic at 600 RPM, the S357 and LMG received significant balance tweaks, and iron sights have been vastly improved across the board. Weapon attachments now persist between deaths.
- Enemy AI: Taunts now alert nearby enemies, but stealth has been slightly tweaked so enemies are less likely to detect bodies dropped behind them.
- QoL: Cutscenes are finally skippable, and mantling/vaulting responsiveness has been heavily improved.
