Leon S. Kennedy returns alongside new protagonist Grace Ashcroft in a genre-blending entry that mixes pulse-pounding action with classic survival horror.
At The Game Awards 2025, Capcom unleashed a massive information drop for Resident Evil Requiem, confirming a February 27, 2026, release date and revealing that legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy will serve as the game’s second playable protagonist.
The game is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), and, notably, the Nintendo Switch 2.
Two Heroes, Two Genres
Resident Evil Requiem aims to satisfy both camps of the Resident Evil fandom by splitting the gameplay between two distinct styles.
- Grace Ashcroft: An introverted FBI intelligence analyst investigating a mysterious death at an abandoned hotel. Her gameplay focuses on “terrifying survival horror,” puzzle-solving, and deduction, reminiscent of the series’ slower, creepier roots.
- Leon S. Kennedy: The veteran DSO agent returns with a focus on “pulse-pounding action.” Equipped with his signature combat skills and a new ride (a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, thanks to a new collaboration), Leon’s sections will bring the high-octane gunplay fans loved in RE4.
Players can also freely switch between first-person and third-person perspectives, allowing for a customizable horror experience.
Nintendo Switch 2 & The “Generation Pack”
Capcom is going all-in on Nintendo’s next-gen hardware. Alongside Requiem, Capcom announced that Resident Evil 7 biohazard Gold Edition and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition will also launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27, 2026.
Nintendo players can purchase the exclusive Resident Evil Generation Pack, a bundle containing all three titles (RE7, Village, and Requiem). Additionally, a special edition Resident Evil Requiem Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller will be available at launch.
Editions and Bonuses
Pre-orders are live now, with a Standard Edition ($69.99) and a Deluxe Edition ($79.99) available.
- Pre-Order Bonus: Grace’s “Apocalypse” Costume.
- Deluxe Edition Content: Includes costumes for Grace (Lady Dimitrescu, Film Noir) and Leon (RE4, Apocalypse, Film Noir), retro filters, weapon skins, and the “Raccoon City Classic” audio pack.
Collaborations
In addition to the in-game Porsche, Capcom announced a crossover with Fortnite. Players who purchase Resident Evil Requiem on the Epic Games Store will receive the Grace outfit in Fortnite post-launch. Furthermore, Grace will be immortalized as the first-ever Resident Evil Amiibo, arriving in Summer 2026.
Fans can expect a deeper dive into the game during a Resident Evil Showcase scheduled for early 2026.
