Survive an Off-World Nightmare in Alien Deathstorm, Coming in 2027

ALIEN DEATHSTORM

ALIEN DEATHSTORM

The studio behind Sniper Elite and Atomfall is taking players to a devastated off-world colony in this intense, first-person fight for survival coming to PC and consoles in 2027.

Rebellion is officially heading into deep space. During the Xbox Partner Preview event, the acclaimed UK independent studio—best known for the Sniper Elite franchise, the Zombie Army series, and the recent British survival hit Atomfall—pulled the curtain back on a terrifying new IP.

Titled Alien Deathstorm™, this brand-new, visceral first-person action horror game promises to plunge players into an apocalyptic sci-fi nightmare. Slated to launch in 2027, the game brings its unique brand of extraterrestrial terror to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a Day One launch on Xbox Game Pass.

Here is everything we know so far about Rebellion’s dark new direction.

A Rescue Mission Gone Horribly Wrong

Alien Deathstorm abandons the historical battlefields of Rebellion’s past games in favor of a remote, isolated off-world colony.

The premise is a classic, terrifying sci-fi setup: the colony has suffered a complete and sudden loss of communications. You step into the boots of a Combat Engineer, a highly trained first responder who has been dispatched to investigate the blackout. Arriving days—or potentially even weeks—ahead of the full rescue fleet, your primary objective is to determine why the colony went silent, stabilize the situation, and save as many civilian lives as possible.

Of course, things are infinitely worse than the command anticipated.

Surviving the Storm and the Swarm

As your drop ship lands, you realize the colony isn’t just silent; it is being actively torn to shreds by the titular “Deathstorm”—a localized, cataclysmic weather event devastating the infrastructure.

But the apocalyptic weather is the least of your concerns. Navigating the ongoing destruction, players will be forced to contend with swarms of unknown, horrifying alien creatures. What was supposed to be a standard search-and-rescue operation instantly devolves into a desperate, raw fight for survival.

As a Combat Engineer, players will likely have to rely on their technical expertise just as much as their trigger finger. Navigating the ruined facility, repairing failing systems amid a raging storm, and fending off visceral alien horrors sounds like a potent recipe for high-tension gameplay.

Coming to Game Pass in 2027

Rebellion has a strong track record of delivering tight, mechanically satisfying action games, and watching them pivot into pure, first-person sci-fi horror is an incredibly exciting prospect.

Alien Deathstorm is scheduled to launch in 2027. Xbox players will be thrilled to know that the title launches Day One on Xbox Game Pass and will be available across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Cloud. PlayStation 5 and PC (via Steam) players will also be able to join the fight for survival at launch.

Rebellion has promised to reveal more details about the terrifying creatures and the Combat Engineer’s mechanics very soon. Until then, make sure to add the game to your watchlists and prepare for the storm.
