TwitchCon San Diego 2025 is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a massive series of announcements. During the opening Keynote on Friday, CEO Dan Clancy addressed the community’s needs and unveiled a huge wave of updates—from AI-powered creation tools to major monetization and moderation shifts—that are set to define the platform’s next era.
The focus, as outlined in Clancy’s earlier open letter, is clearly on growth, discovery, and safety, ensuring creators can earn more and manage their channels more efficiently.

Leveling Up Content Creation and Discovery
Twitch is tackling content fragmentation head-on by making it easier than ever for streamers to create content for both mobile and desktop viewers simultaneously.
Dual-Format Streaming Enters Beta
The ability to stream vertical and horizontal video simultaneously is moving into its Beta phase next week, starting with expanded support for partners like Streamlabs and Streamrun. This crucial feature ensures streamers can capture the massive mobile audience without sacrificing the traditional desktop experience, delivering an optimal view no matter how the audience tunes in.
Hands-Free Streaming and AI Clips
Mobile streaming is getting a major upgrade through a partnership with Meta, enabling streamers to go live hands-free directly from their AI glasses. The Twitch mobile app will be updated in the coming months to support this wearable technology, paving the way for more spontaneous IRL content.
To help streamers easily create shareable moments, Twitch is building Auto Clips. This AI-powered feature will automatically create short clips based on the stream’s best moments—such as funny banter or positive excitement—saving creators significant post-stream editing time. These Clips can then be reviewed and shared across social platforms to drive growth and will eventually be used to highlight key moments in VODs.

Community Engagement and Loyalty
The popular Watch Streaks feature is finally rolling out to all channels in the next two weeks. To mitigate streamer stress, the streak can now be maintained by viewers watching Clips, Stories, or the VOD within 24 hours of a missed stream. Additionally, a new Co-Streaming feature will help event organizers highlight total viewership by showing the combined view counts of all co-streaming channels.
New Monetization & Sponsorship Pathways
Twitch is doubling down on ways for Affiliates and Partners to turn their passions into a sustainable career, making it easier to secure brand deals and run their own revenue-driving events.
Streamer-Led Promotions and Combos
Following successful internal tests, streamer-led promotions (where creators can offer discounts on subs and gifts) have been a massive hit, increasing gifting revenue by an average of 30-45% for medium-sized creators. Twitch will continue to expand these tools.
Furthermore, Combos, which allow viewers to rally together using Bits to create large on-screen animations, are being integrated into the Cheering experience, allowing single-tap activation and support for both subs and Bits.
Sponsorships for All Monetizing Streamers
A major announcement confirmed that sponsorship offers—previously focused on Partners—will be rolling out to all monetizing streamers, including Affiliates, in the coming months. Twitch aims to help 10 times as many creators secure brand deals this year as in 2024 by bringing more advertisers and third-party offers directly into the Creator Dashboard.
Simplified Moderation and New Roles
Recognizing the administrative burden on growing streamers, Twitch is introducing new support roles and updating its enforcement system to be fairer.
Targeted Enforcement and Account Roles
Twitch is changing how it issues suspensions. For less severe guideline offenses, the suspension will apply only to the violating behavior (e.g., streaming ban), while still allowing the user to watch streams or chat. This avoids completely restricting access to the platform for minor infractions.
To better manage growing channels, two new roles are being introduced:
- Agent/Manager: Can view a streamer’s analytics and financial information.
- Lead Moderator: Can add or remove other Mods and update moderation settings.
These new roles will be available for streamers to assign starting in November.
