TwitchCon is an event where streamers, fans, and brands come together for gaming, live streams, panels, and networking, celebrating the Twitch community.
Last weekend, I had the privilege of attending TwitchCon 2024 in San Diego, and let me tell you—it was an absolute blast! From meeting creators to exploring art and enjoying panels, the event was an unforgettable experience.
Day 1 – Friday, September 20th: Artist Alley and Opening Ceremony
I got a head start on Friday, arriving a little early to explore Artist Alley. This was a huge highlight for me, as I got to admire the incredible work that so many talented creators had put into their booths. It was inspiring to see the dedication they poured into their art, and I couldn’t help but pick up a few pieces for myself.
After Artist Alley, I attended the official opening ceremony of TwitchCon 2024. Twitch’s CEO took the stage to hype everyone up for the weekend, announcing some exciting new features coming to Twitch, including updates to Clips, improvements to the mobile app, and the introduction of Shared Chat. The energy in the room was electric, and it set the tone for the days ahead.
Exploring the Expo Hall and Meeting Creators
Next, I dove into the Expo Hall, which was packed with game booths like Escape from Tarkov, Arena Breakout Infinite, and Call of Duty. It was the perfect playground for any gamer. I also got the chance to meet some amazing creators, including Pezzzy, ElasticDroid, Grizzy, Bigpuffer, Cyr, and Wakewilder. We had a few good laughs as we chatted about the weekend ahead.
Fortnite Twitch Rivals and Debatelords
One of the major highlights of the day was watching the Fortnite Twitch Rivals tournament. The energy from the crowd was incredible as some of the best creators duked it out live. Later, I attended the Debatelords event, where HasanAbi served as the Judge, Jury, and Executioner, with panelists like Cyr, bbno$, Nmplol, Jasontheween, and Carolinekwan debating hilarious and random topics. The crowd was roaring with laughter the entire time!
Day 2 – Saturday, September 21st: Conversations and Panels
Day two started with an inspiring conversation with Maya, who runs the Alveus Sanctuary in Austin, TX. We discussed the impact of her live streams on viewers and her hopes for future events at the sanctuary. Later, she joined HasanAbi for a “Changemakers” Q&A panel where they shared insights on how anyone can make a difference in their community.
Yes or No Yes and AltCtrl Throwdown
I caught PointCrow’s show Yes or No Yes, where contestants hilariously tried to figure out which random case to pick, hoping to win bizarre prizes like a picture of Carolinekwan and her dog, a Rainforest Café-style air fryer, and even a stuffed raccoon. The audience had a great time yelling out their picks.
Later, I attended the AltCtrl Throwdown, where streamers played Tetris using non-traditional controllers like GameCube bongo drums! The panelists answered questions from the crowd and showed that you can game in fun, unconventional ways.
Name Your Price and Block Party
To end the day, I attended Name Your Price, hosted by WillNeff and AustinShow. Contestants had to guess the prices of random items, which led to some hilarious moments and mini-games. The crowd was engaged throughout, making it a fun and interactive experience.
That evening, TwitchCon took over San Diego’s Gaslamp District with an epic block party. With food, drinks, live music, and even a silent disco, it was the perfect way to unwind after a jam-packed day.
A Weekend to Remember
TwitchCon 2024 was a whirlwind of excitement, from the panels to the games and everything in between. It was an incredible experience meeting creators, engaging in fun activities, and being part of this passionate community. I can’t wait for TwitchCon 2025—San Diego, here we come again!
