The sequel to the 3-million-copy co-op hit brings deeper puzzles and a powerful new Room Editor 2.0.

Indie developer Pine Studio has struck gold again. Escape Simulator 2, the sequel to the co-op puzzle game that sold over 3 million copies, launched last week on October 27 and is already a runaway success. The game has already surpassed 100,000 players in its first weekend and is holding a “Very Positive” rating on Steam with nearly 800 reviews.

Available now on Steam for $19.99 (with a 10% launch discount until November 10), the new title expands on everything that made the original a co-op classic. Players can now team up with up to 8 friends to tackle intricate, physics-based escape rooms.

Escape Simulator 2 launches with 12 new rooms, divided into three main themes, each crafted with the help of real-world escape room experts:

“With Escape Simulator 2, we wanted to push the escape room genre forward, experimenting with fresh themes and new puzzle mechanics while giving builders more powerful tools than ever,” said Tomislav Podhraski, co-founder of Pine Studio.

One of the biggest upgrades is the Room Editor 2.0. The community built over 4,000 custom rooms for the first game, and the sequel gives them even more power. The new editor includes an upgraded lighting engine, a building editor for designing rooms with working stairs, and a “Sequence” animation tool to bring custom creations to life.

Despite the darker themes like Dracula’s Castle, Pine Studio assures players this is not a horror game and contains no jump scares or gore.

For fans of the original, Pine Studio has also confirmed that the first Escape Simulator will continue to receive support, with more content on the way.

Escape Simulator 2 is available now on Steam for PC and is Steam Deck Verified.
