Into The Dead: Crimson Heights

Game: Into the Dead: Crimson Heights Developer / Publisher: PikPok (New Zealand / Colombia) Genre: Hyper Reality / VR Survival Horror Platforms: Meta (Hyper Reality) · PC VR (Steam) Release: 2027 Franchise: Into the Dead series — set in the Walton City outbreak (Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days) Revealed At: IGN Live More Info: Gamescom August 2026

PikPok has announced Into the Dead: Crimson Heights at IGN Live — a survival horror game built on what the studio is calling Hyper Reality technology, targeting a 2027 release on Meta (Hyper Reality) and PC VR via Steam. The game scans your real-world play space and transforms your actual furniture into in-game architecture and cover, creating a reactive game world that physically maps to the room you’re standing in.

Crimson Heights expands the Walton City zombie outbreak established in Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days, set during the first hours of the outbreak before events in that game unfold. The franchise connection gives PikPok’s most technically ambitious title to date a narrative anchor — and for players who’ve followed the Into the Dead universe, a direct story link to events they already know.

Hyper Reality — Your Room Becomes the Game

The Hyper Reality technology is the headline feature and the most distinct thing about Crimson Heights as a product. By scanning your play space, the game uses your actual sofa, chairs, tables, and room layout as the geometry of the game world — furniture becomes cover you can crouch behind, walls define sightlines, and your physical environment is the level. It pushes beyond standard roomscale VR by making the player’s specific real-world space the game’s architecture rather than placing them in a generic virtual room.

The practical implications for zombie horror are immediately compelling: the undead navigating a space that is your actual living room, using the cover and sightlines that you know from everyday experience, is a different kind of threat than abstract virtual corridors. PikPok describes the experience as “body-driven” — tense stealth, tactical exploration, and thrilling combat that use physical movement in your real space as the primary input.
