SandyFloor, an indie studio based in Seoul, South Korea, has launched the Steam demo for PengPong — a physics-based top-down roguelite arena shooter where you play as Peng, a former hockey star now taking on dangerous cleanup jobs in contaminated zones. The twist: rather than shooting at enemies directly, you use a hockey stick to strike pucks and weapons across the stage, defeating waves of creatures through timing, angles, ricochets, and item combinations. The demo is live now, with Steam Next Fest and Bullet Heaven Fest appearances planned for June 15–22.

The combat hook is the defining detail. In a genre crowded with twin-stick shooters and bullet heaven games where the shooting is abstract, PengPong builds its entire loop around the physics of hitting something and watching it bounce — angle of strike, ricochet geometry, position relative to enemy clusters, item effects on the puck’s behaviour. It’s the specific appeal of pinball translated into a top-down arena roguelite, and it creates a skill expression layer that most games in this space don’t have.

Key Features

PengPong — Feature Breakdown

Hockey Stick Combat System Strike pucks and weapons into enemies rather than firing directly. Timing, positioning, ricochet angles, and item combinations shape each encounter — intuitive to pick up, with real mechanical depth.
Roguelite Progression Enemy waves, item choices, and build directions change every run. Designed for short, satisfying sessions with high replayability.
100+ Items and Synergies Offensive upgrades, mobility, defence, and risk-based power boosts across a wide item pool. Every run develops differently depending on what drops and how the builds interact.
1960s Rubber Hose Art Style Retro cartoon animation aesthetics combined with neon energy, arcade chaos, and dark humour. A visual identity that stands apart from most games in the genre.
