Developed by Metal Head Games, Back to the Dawn first arrived on PC in Early Access in November 2023 before its full release in July 2025, and has since come to Xbox, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Now Clouded Leopard Entertainment, the publisher behind the global releases of Falcom’s Trails and Ys series, has brought it to PS5. According to the publisher, players have overwhelmingly praised its gameplay freedom and the variety of escape routes, which encourage multiple playthroughs.
