Tripwire Interactive has launched the fourth seasonal update for Killing Floor 3. Titled ‘Operation: Shadow Hunter’, Season 4 sends Nightfall specialists to the Nordic North Sea to explore a mire-infested oil rig and the horrors it has unleashed — and brings with it the highly anticipated return of the Gunslinger perk.
The update also introduces the elusive Dr. Moorcroft as a new boss, adds a ‘Suicidal’ difficulty tier sitting between Hard and Hell-on-Earth, completes the second phase of dual-wield sidearm support, and delivers a Supply Pass refresh alongside performance optimizations, new achievements, and quality-of-life improvements.
The Gunslinger Returns
It’s the marquee addition of the season, and it comes with a substantial weapons package. Four pairs of dual-wielded primaries plus a new sidearm arrive with the perk — and crucially, all of them are usable by every perk, not just the Gunslinger.
New weapon mods land alongside them, including Sonic Tracer Rounds, a Holographic Pistol Sight, the Volter-Shock Underbarrel, a Der Konig Compensator, a Five-Round Conversion Cylinder, and a Powered Polymer Mag.
Season 4 also completes Dual-Wield Sidearms Phase 2: the remaining trio — the Medic’s KH-380, the Sharpshooter’s Disciple, and the Firebug’s Pyre .357 — can now each be dual-wielded. Every sidearm in the game now supports both single and dual-wield play.
Facing the Bad Doctor
The narrative missions frame it as the culmination of a year-long chase: Moorcroft has ascended to his final and most dangerous form, and it falls to Nightfall to stop him opening a far larger rift into the alternate dimension known as the Dreadzone — one big enough to swallow whole cities, and possibly the world.
The setting for the confrontation is the new Oil Rig survival map, where a routine North Sea drilling operation accidentally struck mire and drew the attention of Moorcroft and his followers, who promptly seized the platform.
A new survival map on a frigid North Sea drilling platform overtaken by mire — and by Moorcroft’s followers.
A returning difficulty tier designed as a stepping-skull between Hard and Hell-on-Earth, smoothing the jump to the toughest fights.
100 new rewards across free and paid tracks, including the new Horzine Mark 8 Armor for all specialists. Passes and points never expire.
Hot-join friends directly from the main menu, choose Tier 3 weapon mods during crafting, plus new daily and milestone challenges, mutators, and fixes.
A Year Two Roadmap
Mod support is the detail worth watching there. Killing Floor 2’s community content was a significant part of its longevity, and extending that to consoles as well as PC would be a meaningful commitment for a game now entering its second year.
Where Killing Floor 3 Stands
Killing Floor 3 is the latest entry in the long-running co-op action horror FPS series. It’s set in 2091, seventy years after Killing Floor 2, with megacorp Horzine having produced an obedient horde of bio-engineered monstrosities called Zeds. The rebel group Nightfall is all that stands between them and humanity’s future — and you’ll join up to five teammates battling waves of Zeds through a war-ravaged dystopia, unlocking skills and building an arsenal.
The game launched on July 24, 2025 and has just passed its first anniversary. Digital editions run $39.99 for Standard, $59.99 for Deluxe, and $79.99 for the Elite Nightfall Edition, with physical Standard Editions available for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at $39.99 MSRP from select retailers. It’s rated M for Mature by the ESRB and PEGI 18.
