Full Launch
The Empire pulled back. Nature took the rest.
Across the Endless Ocean lies the Arkadera Peninsula — once the western edge of the Empire, now a walled town and a great deal of wilderness.
Kitaria Fables 2 is running a closed beta on Steam this September, giving players their first hands-on with PQube, Secret Level Studios and Twin Hearts’ follow-up ahead of a Spring 2027 release.
And the scope of what’s being handed out is the genuinely surprising part.
🎮 The Beta Contains Over Half the Game
Not a vertical slice. Not the opening two hours. Selected players get over half of Alice and Dusty’s adventure across the Arkadera Peninsula — six months before the game comes out.
That’s an unusual amount to put in front of testers, and it changes what the feedback can actually be about. A short slice tells you whether combat feels good; half a game tells you whether the pacing works, whether the middle sags, and whether the systems still hold up twenty hours in. Those are the problems that are hardest to fix late, and this is a studio choosing to find them early.
Two Heroes, and You Can Play Both at Once
Alice Skylar
Royal Army ‘Pathfinder’
Ambitious and eager to prove her skills in the field, sent out with the Royal Academy Expedition Team.
Dusty Tuftkin
Plucky Local Guide
Knows the peninsula in a way the Empire’s maps no longer do, and joins the expedition as it heads north.
🤝 Co-Op Isn’t Bolted On — Both Heroes Exist at Once
Each character has their own playstyle, skill tree and story to tell, which would be a decent character-select feature on its own. What makes it more interesting is that you can recruit a friend in local or online co-op and play through the entire story with both heroes simultaneously.
That means Alice and Dusty aren’t alternate versions of the same protagonist — they’re two people who are both genuinely present in the narrative. Designing a two-hander this way means the co-op experience is the complete one rather than a mode grafted onto a solo game.
The expedition itself has a clear brief: reopen Whitewall Town’s fabled errand house, explore the peninsula, and restore the long-forgotten outposts that once protected its citizens. Then the rumours start — of a mysterious figure somewhere deep in the northern wilderness.
Adventure and Farmstead, Side by Side
🗺️ Into the Wilds
Repair outposts scattered across deep forests, boggy marshes, rugged highlands and snow-capped mountains.
⚔️ Spells and Swords
Spend skill points on special attacks and elemental spells, building toward devastating ultimate abilities.
🔨 Getting Crafty
Gather materials and visit Whitewall’s artisans to craft equipment, blend potions and cook.
🌱 The Simple Life
Restore Aunt Kiki’s dishevelled farmstead, hunt rare seeds, and expand the facilities into a going concern.
That combination is what the series is built on — an action RPG that also wants you to keep a farm running, with side quests and remote settlements offering rare rewards for anyone who wanders off the main path. The four distinct biomes suggest the peninsula is meant to be worth wandering across.
Launching on Four Platforms

🟩 Xbox Series X|S
🔴 Switch 2
The full game arrives digitally in Spring 2027 across all four. Another Switch 2 release worth noting — a cosy action RPG with co-op is close to ideal handheld material, and the platform is quietly accumulating exactly this sort of title.
