Valve’s latest week-long festival celebrates the fine art of building impenetrable fortresses and utterly destroying anyone who tries to knock them down.
Get your turrets upgraded and your barricades ready. Following the massive success of February’s Steam Next Fest, Valve is keeping the momentum going with a brand-new themed event.
The Steam Team has officially announced that the Steam Tower Defense Fest kicks off Monday, March 9th, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific.
Running for a full week through March 16th, the festival will feature massive discounts across the storefront, highlighting hundreds of games dedicated to the beloved strategic genre.
Build It Up, Tear Them Down
As the official announcement playfully describes it, the games featured on sale this week are all about one core philosophy: “building things, and then trying to prevent others from tearing them down.”
(The Steam Team was also quick to point out that anyone who grew up with siblings will immediately relate to this specific brand of chaotic defense).
Whether you prefer traditional fantasy grid-based layouts, sci-fi planetary defense grids, or quirky indie mashups, the genre’s appeal is universal. The festival will highlight titles where players must carefully organize stationary units, manage resources under pressure, and strategically destroy waves of increasingly difficult enemies.
Trailers and Storefront Details
To give players a taste of what to expect, Valve has released an official trailer showcasing a rapid-fire montage of top-tier tower defense games that will be heavily discounted during the event.
