It’s back, and bloodier than ever.
Summer of Screams 2026 is the second annual horror sale event from Gun Interactive, and it lands just in time for Summerween β that stretch of late August when the genre faithful decide autumn has started early and nobody can stop them.
The premise is a curated one. Rather than an algorithmic dump of everything tagged horror, Gun hand-pick a list of games from teams they think are doing interesting work with fear β a mix of personal favourites, critically acclaimed titles, and hidden gems.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Leads the Discounts
πͺ Gun’s Own Headline Deal
β’ The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and select DLC β up to 75% off
β’ Content Pass and the ‘Rush Week’ DLC β up to 50% off
Seventy-five percent off is a substantial cut, and for an asymmetric multiplayer horror game the entry price has always been the main barrier to getting a group together. If you’ve had friends holding out, this is the window where that argument gets a lot easier to win.
Seven Upcoming Titles Worth Watching
Beyond the discounts, Gun are using the event to spotlight upcoming horror from other teams. This is arguably the more valuable half of the event β a curated watchlist from people who spend their working lives thinking about the genre:
βRemothered: Red Nun’s Legacy
βMy Cannibal Family
βMetamorphosis
βHolstin
βDarkwood 2
βCold Abyss
βHillthorn
There are some genuinely notable names in there. A sequel to Darkwood is a significant thing on its own β the original built a reputation as one of the most quietly unnerving horror games of its generation. Holstin and Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy both carry weight with genre followers too.
A Publisher Promoting Other People’s Games
π€ Worth Noting
Gun Interactive describe Summer of Screams as “a show of appreciation for the genre, community, and obsession we call horror,” and as an indie and creative studio they’re explicitly looking to highlight and uplift other teams across the industry.
A publisher building an annual event largely to promote games it doesn’t publish is an unusual and genuinely decent thing to do β and it makes the curation more trustworthy than a typical storefront sale, because the list isn’t a catalogue dump.
That’s the reason to actually browse this one rather than just checking whether anything on your wishlist dropped. A hand-picked list from a horror studio is a different proposition to Steam’s own algorithmic recommendations, and it’s the kind of event that surfaces things you’d otherwise never encounter.
