Game: Vikings Dynasty
Developer: Digital Daredevils (Wrocław)
Publisher: Toplitz Productions
Genre: Norse Survival & Settlement Builder
Release Date: To be announced
Platform: PC (Steam)
Players: Single-player
Setting: The Steineyjar archipelago
🪓 Vikings Dynasty premiered a new trailer at the Future Games Show Summer Showcase, and Toplitz say it kickstarts the next phase of development. The game is playable at gamescom for press and creators, with more news promised in the coming weeks — but there’s still no release date.
⚖️ You Start With Absolutely Nothing
Toplitz open the announcement with a line that does a lot of work in six words:
“Broken, but not beaten. Barely alive, but resilient.”
Your ship goes down in a thunderstorm. You wash up in the Steineyjar archipelago with no supplies, no shelter and no people. Everything after that — the shelter, the settlement, the longships, the followers — is built from that starting position.
It’s the standard Dynasty series opening, and it works for the same reason it always has: the distance between hour one and hour fifty is the entire point of the genre.
Broken, but not beaten
Wash up with nothing. Leave behind a Jarl’s hall, a fleet, and an heir to inherit both.
Vikings Dynasty is a first- and third-person survival and settlement builder set in a harsh Norse world drawn from mythology. Developer Digital Daredevils and publisher Toplitz Productions debuted a fresh trailer at the Future Games Show Summer Showcase, running alongside gamescom.
Toplitz describe the trailer as kickstarting the next phase of development, and the game is playable at gamescom in Cologne — though at the Toplitz booth in Hall 4.1, stand D-038g/C-029g, which sits in the business area. That’s a press and content creator showing, not something the public can queue for.
What Vikings Dynasty Actually Is
⚔️ The Dynasty Formula, Pointed North
The series name isn’t decoration. Like its stablemates, Vikings Dynasty is built around generational play — you don’t just build a settlement, you start a family, raise an heir and hand the whole thing over. Legacy is a mechanic rather than a theme.
The Norse framing gives it a specific shape. You rise to Jarl, the community’s undisputed leader, assigning settlers to farming, hunting, fishing and resource gathering, then keeping the whole village fed and willing.
The lore layer is more than set dressing too: you can apply runes to equipment for stat boosts, and make offerings to the gods in exchange for blessings on you and your people.
⛵ Shipbuilding
From fishing and cargo boats up to longships and the drakkar. Ships are built and customised, not unlocked.
🗺️ The Archipelago
Multiple islands, fjords and underwater caves, with dynamic weather and full seasonal change.
🏘️ Jarl Management
Workshops, smithies, carpenters. Settlers take orders, hold jobs, and have needs to meet.
ᚱ Runes & Offerings
Rune-enhanced gear and sacrifices to the gods, with blessings that extend to the whole village.
One line on the store page stands out as a genuine design promise rather than a feature bullet: “If you exploit Mother Nature, she will not forget.” Over-harvesting having lasting consequences is not a thing survival builders usually commit to in writing, and it’s the detail we’d most want to see working in a hands-on.
Sailing isn’t just traversal, either. Expeditions to other islands turn up rare resources — and other villagers willing to join your cause, which makes exploration a recruitment mechanic as much as a supply run.
⚠️ Two Things Worth Being Clear-Eyed AboutThere’s still no release date. The Steam page reads “to be announced,” and “kickstarting the next phase of development” is a phrase that covers a very wide range of realities. Encouraging, but not a window.
And this is Digital Daredevils’ debut game. The studio’s own description confirms it — they’re working on their first title, in Wrocław. That’s not a knock; plenty of excellent games are debuts, and Toplitz have a track record of pairing new teams with their established formats. But a franchise entry from a first-time studio is worth knowing about before you set expectations, particularly given the scale on offer here.
The system requirements listing tells the same story. Right now it says Windows 10 64-bit and nothing else — no CPU, no GPU, no storage figure. That’s a page for a game still some distance from lock.
🧰 What’s on the Steam Page That Isn’t in the Announcement
Worth knowing before you go looking:
• There’s a playtest. Sign-ups are live on the Steam page — request access and you’ll be notified when the team opens it to more participants. No date for that yet
• Single-player only. No co-op listed, which is worth flagging given how many settlement builders ship with it
• Steam Achievements, Trading Cards, Cloud saves and Family Sharing are all confirmed
• Eight languages for interface and subtitles, with full voice audio in English only
• Mature content: the developers flag a brutal, harsh setting with constant conflict and combat between survivors
Two More Toplitz Games Turned Up
🌾 Medieval Dynasty
Render Cube’s fan favourite showed a fresh gameplay trailer outlining elements coming to the game over the next few months. No specifics named in the announcement — treat it as a “more soon” beat rather than a content reveal.
🏭 Prospera
The freshly announced first-person Victorian city builder from Active Fungus Studios also ran a new trailer, showing off its open world of factories, rail and street-level building. It’s targeting Q2 2027 on Steam.
Taken together it’s a fairly clear statement of what Toplitz are: a publisher that has found one genre — first-person, build-it-yourself, manage-the-people games — and is now running it across several very different settings at once. Medieval, Norse and Victorian, all sharing a spine.
Whether that’s a strength or a limitation depends entirely on how much the individual games differentiate. Vikings Dynasty’s shipbuilding and Prospera’s automation are the two clearest attempts at doing that, and they’re pulling in genuinely different directions, which is a good sign.
Platform and Availability
🖥️ PC via Steam, Date TBA
Vikings Dynasty is listed for PC on Steam with no console versions announced and no release date. It’s available to wishlist now, and the playtest is accepting sign-ups.
Toplitz have promised “more exciting news about the game in the next few weeks,” which — given the trailer was framed as opening a new development phase — most plausibly means a date, a playtest window, or both. We’d expect something concrete before the end of the year rather than a launch.

Who’s Making It
🇵🇱 Digital Daredevils — Wrocław, Poland
A studio building gameplay, story and art together, and Vikings Dynasty is their debut. Their stated foundation is passion and an understanding of what modern players actually want from these games — which, for a first project this size, is a fairly bold place to plant a flag.
🧱 Render Cube — Medieval Dynasty
Founded in 2012 and originally an outsourcing house, with credits alongside CD Projekt, Techland and Platige Image before moving to their own titles. Medieval Dynasty is their biggest, blending survival, simulation, building, RPG and strategy. The studio employs over 30 people and is listed on the Polish stock exchange.
🏔️ Toplitz Productions
The German-Austrian publisher named after Lake Toplitz, home of the Dynasty and Giant series, and the connective tissue across all three of these announcements.
Vikings Dynasty is on Steam now for wishlisting, with playtest sign-ups open and a release date still to be announced.
