🐾 Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest launches October 23 across five platforms. Console pre-orders are live now at $29.99 for the Standard Edition and $39.99 for the Feral Edition — PC pre-orders follow at a later date. Erin Hunter wrote four new storylines exclusively for the game.
⚖️ Four Clans, Four Campaigns, Four New Stories
The structural commitment here is bigger than most licensed adaptations attempt. You create a cat, pick a Clan, and get a complete story campaign built around that Clan’s culture and traditions.
ThunderClan. RiverClan. ShadowClan. WindClan. Each with its own prophecies, rivalries, characters and challenges.
And critically, these aren’t retellings. Erin Hunter wrote four new storylines exclusively for the game — original material rather than a playable summary of books people have already read. For a fanbase this invested, that’s the difference between a tie-in and a genuine addition to the canon.
Forge your destiny. Defend your Clan.
Twenty-three years, ninety million books, and this is the franchise’s first proper console RPG.
Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest has a date. TRAILMARK Games and the Coolabi Group have confirmed October 23, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
You create your own warrior cat from a deep customisation suite, choose a Clan, forge bonds, rise through the ranks and defend your territory in strategic turn-based combat. Along the way you’ll meet original characters alongside familiar cats from the books, and work toward the secrets of StarClan.
The Developer Isn’t Named in the Announcement
🛠️ Bamtang Games Made This
Worth putting on the record, because the press release credits TRAILMARK Games and the Coolabi Group and doesn’t mention the studio that actually built the thing.
Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest was developed by Bamtang Games, a studio based in Lima, Peru. Their credit is on the Steam page and in every outlet’s coverage of the original reveal.
It’s a common enough pattern in licensed publishing and it’s rarely malicious — but developers deserve their name in the announcement of their own game, and we’d rather credit them than reprint a release that doesn’t.
What the Combat Actually Is
The release says “strategic turn-based combat” and leaves it there. The system underneath has more going on than that suggests.
⏱️ Timing
Turn-based, but built around timed inputs rather than pure menu selection.
🎯 Weaknesses
Enemies have exploitable weaknesses — mice, squirrels, badgers and rival warriors.
🐈 Stances
Combat stances alongside Clan-specific moves, so your Clan shapes how you fight.
✨ Ancestor Attacks
Powers granted by StarClan itself. The lore doing mechanical work.
🌲 Everything Else You’ll Be Doing
The Steam listing fills in what the announcement skips:
• Climb trees, pounce through undergrowth, track scents and solve environmental puzzles
• Forage for materials and craft items back in your den
• Personalise your den — and there’s an asynchronous online feature that lets players visit each other’s dens, which explains the Multiplayer tag on a game otherwise listed as single-player
• Branching storylines — choices affect relationships, rivalries, quests and your standing in the Clan, with different paths available on repeat playthroughs
• Territories include ThunderClan’s dense forests, RiverClan’s marshlands, ShadowClan’s dark pine swamps and WindClan’s open moors, plus the sacred sites of The Moonpool and The Island
One For the Book Readers
🗺️ It’s Set at the Lake, Not the Forest
Despite the subtitle, the Steam description places the game in the Lake Territories, and the sacred locations named — The Moonpool and The Island — are both lake-era sites rather than their old-forest equivalents.
For anyone who hasn’t read the books, that means nothing. For anyone who has, it pins the game firmly to the post-migration era of the series rather than the original forest setting, which tells you a great deal about which cats you’re likely to run into.
The subtitle isn’t wrong exactly — ThunderClan’s lake territory is dense forest — but it’s the sort of thing this fandom notices within about four seconds, so it’s worth knowing going in.
Editions and Pre-Orders
🐱 Standard — $29.99
The base game. Digital pre-orders are live now on all consoles. PC pre-orders open at a later date, so Steam and Epic buyers are waiting.
🔥 Feral Edition — $39.99
Available digitally and at retail. Adds 8 Cat Creator elements, 12 wearable accessories, a cel-shaded character skin, 4 photo mode poses and 4 photo mode effects.
Anyone pre-ordering either edition from a digital store also gets “The Purrfect Look” pack, which contains exclusive Cat Creator content. Note that the extra ten dollars on the Feral Edition buys cosmetics and photo mode toys rather than story content — worth knowing before you upgrade, particularly if you’re buying this for a younger reader who mainly wants the campaigns.
🎮 Five Platforms, October 23Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. A physical console release is confirmed alongside the digital editions.
Rated ESRB E10+ for Fantasy Violence, with six languages for interface and subtitles and full English voice audio.
PC specs are listed as a GTX 1060 / RX 580 minimum with 8 GB of RAM, and an RTX 3070 / RX 6800 XT recommendation with 16 GB — a notably steep recommended tier for a 4 GB install, which suggests the listing may be conservative rather than final.
One oddity: the Steam page still lists the release date as “to be announced” at the time of writing. Expect it to update shortly.
This Is the Front of a Much Bigger Push
Context helps here. Warrior Cats has been quietly enormous for a long time — Coolabi put their catalogue at over 200 million copies across their IPs, with Warrior Cats leading a digital and social portfolio boasting over 700 million game plays on Roblox, half a billion views of user-generated content on YouTube, and close to 2.9 billion views on TikTok.
What makes October 23 significant is that after twenty-three years, this is the franchise’s first proper console RPG. And it isn’t arriving alone — it’s the first playable piece of a coordinated transmedia expansion that also includes an official mobile game from Red Games Co. in 2027 and a Disney animated series in 2028.
That timing is deliberate. The readers who devoured these books in the mid-2000s are now adults with disposable income, while younger readers are still discovering the series through ongoing publication. Launching a premium console RPG eighteen months ahead of a Disney series is a studied piece of scheduling, and it means this game is carrying more weight than a typical licensed tie-in.

Who’s Making It
🇵🇪 Bamtang Games — Lima, Peru
The development studio behind Clans of the Forest, and the name missing from the announcement. Worth following if you like seeing where licensed console work actually gets made.
🏢 TRAILMARK Games
An independent publisher founded by industry veterans with backgrounds in publishing, licensing, product development and global distribution, focused on bringing established brands to console, PC and mobile.
📚 Coolabi Group & Erin Hunter
Coolabi own Warrior Cats alongside Beast Quest and Lady Grace Mysteries, with books licensed in over 40 languages. Note for the curious: “Erin Hunter” is a collective pen name covering several authors and editors working under Working Partners — so “four new storylines written by Erin Hunter” means the official creative team behind the books, which is exactly what fans would want it to mean.
