📻 We Were Here Tomorrow arrives October 20. The next entry in Total Mayhem Games’ co-op puzzle series launches on Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for $19.99 — with full crossplay from day one.
⚖️ Crossplay Matters More Here Than Almost Anywhere
Crossplay is a nice bonus in most games. In this series it’s close to essential.
We Were Here is built for exactly two people, and neither of you can finish it alone. That means the game only works if you and one specific friend can actually play together — and there’s a decent chance that friend doesn’t own the same hardware you do.
Crossplay across Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch removes that problem entirely. You buy it on whatever you own, they buy it on whatever they own, and you’re in the same facility.
For a game where the entire design assumes a partner, that’s the single most important feature on the list.
Two explorers. Two walkie-talkies. One way out.
No two Explorers experience the facility the same way. You’ll have to describe what you’re seeing — and trust what you’re told.
Total Mayhem Games has announced that We Were Here Tomorrow launches on October 20 for Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, priced at $19.99 / £16.99 / €19.99.
The new Release Date Reveal Trailer includes Creative Director Martín Mittner discussing the game’s new setting, its gameplay and how the We Were Here experience has evolved.
An Imagined 80s Future
The biggest change is the setting. We Were Here Tomorrow swaps the series’ usual surroundings for a retro-futuristic world — Norček Industries, a facility with a missing research team and a lot of unanswered questions about its experiments.
Expect striking environments and a nostalgic synthwave soundtrack. But Total Mayhem stress it’s still firmly rooted in the world fans know, with familiar elements and references scattered throughout, alongside new mechanics that ask players to communicate and cooperate in ways the series hasn’t demanded before.
🤝 A Shared Adventure
Two Explorers trapped in a mysterious facility with only each other to rely on.
🔀 Asymmetrical Puzzles
You each see different things. Combine your perspectives to solve puzzles that bend time, gravity and space.
🛠️ Two Distinct Roles
Each player has their own role and their own high-tech tool, and neither can manage alone.
🏭 Norček Industries
Uncover the secrets behind the experiments and the missing research team.
The Series That Made You Talk
📻 Communication Is the Mechanic
What made We Were Here stand out is that the puzzles aren’t really in the rooms — they’re in the conversation.
The two of you are separated, seeing different things, with walkie-talkies as your only connection. One of you has information the other needs, and the only way to transfer it is to describe it out loud, accurately, under pressure. Misread a symbol, or explain it badly, and the puzzle stays unsolved.
It’s one of the few co-op designs where the real skill being tested is how well you talk to each other — which is why the series has become a fixture for couples, long-distance friends and anyone who wants a game night that isn’t about reflexes.
Total Mayhem promise new mechanics here that push that further than before.
Nearly a Decade, 15 Million Players
📈 From a Free Steam Release to a Franchise
Total Mayhem Games launched in 2017 with the original We Were Here, released free on Steam — still one of the smartest on-ramps an indie series has ever built. If you’ve never tried one, that entry point costs nothing.
Since then the studio has followed it with We Were Here Too (2018), We Were Here Together (2019), We Were Here Forever (2022) and We Were Here Expeditions: The Friendship (2023).
Almost a decade on, the series has reached more than 15 million players, and the studio has grown to a team of 40+ developers in Rotterdam. With over 350,000 wishlists, Total Mayhem are calling Tomorrow the series’ biggest adventure yet.
