The Wild West is a surprisingly rare setting for a city builder — the genre tends to live in medieval villages, ancient empires and far-future colonies. That makes this one an interesting fit, because a gold rush boomtown is almost exactly what a city builder simulates.
Historically, frontier boomtowns went from tents to timber buildings to full towns in startlingly short order, driven by whatever resource had brought people there. Wild West Pioneers mirrors that arc directly: from timber to gold, from makeshift homes to bustling towns.
And it doesn’t stop at one town. You scout new locations and establish multiple settlements as you push further west — which turns the familiar “grow one city” formula into something closer to an expedition.
