Our team went hands-on with Nightdive’s latest boomer shooter revivals on the Steam Deck. From the morally twisted streets of SiN to a massive new campaign for Blood, retro FPS fans are eating well this year.
Reporting live from the bustling floor of GDC here in San Francisco! Between the massive engine presentations and endless networking events, I managed to carve out some time to sit down with the absolute masters of retro-preservation: Nightdive Studios.
As a massive fan of classic 90s shooters, this meeting was at the top of my itinerary. Nightdive brought two major hitters to the show floor today: the long-awaited remaster SiN: Reloaded, and a massive new content update for their recent release, Blood: Refreshed Supply.
I was lucky enough to get hands-on time with both titles, playing them natively on the Steam Deck. I can confirm that running these glorious Quake Engine classics on a modern handheld device just makes everything so much better. They run flawlessly, the modernized controls feel incredibly intuitive on the thumbsticks, and it was an absolute blast.
Here is everything Nightdive announced today.
Time to Pay for Your Sins: ‘SiN: Reloaded’ Arrives in 2026
It has been a long time coming, but Nightdive Studios—now a subsidiary of Atari—has finally confirmed that SiN: Reloaded will launch in 2026 across PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 1/2.
For the uninitiated, the original 1998 SiN was a pioneer of the genre, known for pushing the Quake II engine to its absolute limits. Set in a near-future dystopian world, you play as security consultant Colonel John R. Blade, tasked with taking down the seductively evil Doctor Elexis Sinclaire. As the CEO of SinTEK Industries, Elexis has been flooding the streets with a DNA-altering drug, forcing you to gun down an unholy army of genetically-engineered mutants.
The game was lauded in the late 90s for its groundbreaking interactivity. You can hack computer terminals using DOS-style code, use security cameras against your enemies, drive vehicles (including forklifts and helicopters), and actually shoot weapons directly out of your opponent’s hands.
SiN: Reloaded brings all of that branching, interactive chaos to modern systems via the KEX Engine.
Key Features of SiN: Reloaded:
- The Complete Package: Includes the base campaign and the Wages of SiN expansion pack, pitting you against a diabolical mafia boss.
- Modernized Visuals: Beautifully remastered graphics with HD textures and models, supporting up to 4K resolution at 144 FPS. You can also seamlessly swap back to the original SiN Gold visuals.
- Quality of Life: Overhauled control schemes, modernized UI for both gamepads and mouse/keyboard, and significantly improved maps.
- The Extras: Brand-new achievements, high-resolution Zak Belika audio tracks, and a vault filled with exclusive behind-the-scenes material.

A Death Wish Granted: Massive Update for ‘Blood: Refreshed Supply’
Has your lust for Blood been satiated yet? Of course not. Good.
If you thought Nightdive was done supporting their definitive December 2025 remaster of Monolith Productions’ legendary 1997 shooter, think again. Debuting a brand-new trailer today at The MIX + Kinda Funny Spring Game Showcase, Nightdive announced the Death Wish expansion for Blood: Refreshed Supply.
Releasing as a free game update later this month, Death Wish is a staggering drop of content. It acts as a direct sequel to the game’s previous events (taking place years after Cryptic Passage, Post Mortem, and Marrow). Tchernobog’s specter still looms, having regained strength while the protagonist Caleb was busy fighting other battles.
This expansion is massive, adding four full episodes totaling 48 pulse-pounding levels. All the maps have been upgraded from their previous community mod versions, and the entirety of Episode 4 consists of brand-new, exclusive content. Furthermore, you can tackle the entire campaign in co-op, backed by a custom soundtrack from Noelle Amelie Aman (Speedy) and Sjellos.
Mutilating cultists, gargoyles, and hellhounds with an arsenal of vicious weapons has never looked or played better. With up to 4K 120FPS visuals on current-gen consoles, local split-screen, and cross-platform online multiplayer for up to eight players, Blood: Refreshed Supply remains the gold standard for retro remasters.
