Korean studio ABUTTON Inc. has officially revealed Guns & Dragons, an outrageous solo or co-op roguelite FPS set in a magitech fantasy world. Up to three players grab guns or bows and delve into caverns, dungeons, and even quaint villages to blast through hordes of monsters with evolving weapon builds.
The pitch centres on one idea: start each run with a perfectly reasonable gun or bow, then push it far beyond its original design through unhinged upgrades and enchanted engineering. What begins as a simple weapon can end a run as something absurdly powerful, unpredictable, and entirely yours.
Overcrank Everything
Between runs, players expand their bases and develop gear infused with arcane technology that grows steadily more powerful. Within runs, the variety comes from combining runes, artifacts, and skills so that no two attempts play the same — and the studio is explicit that the best builds aren’t just strong, they’re excessive, surprising, and a little unreasonable.
Crucially, the world doesn’t just stand there and take it. ABUTTON is promising cunning enemies, challenging firefights, and tough-as-nails bosses to push players to their limits, which is where the “serious combat, ridiculous weapons” framing comes from. The absurdity is in the arsenal; the difficulty is meant to be real.
Start with a regular gun or bow, then push it past its original design through unhinged upgrades and enchanted engineering.
Modern armaments and classic ranged weapons infused with magic and tech. Experiment with firearms, bows, runes, and artifacts.
Run it alone or team with up to two friends, combining ridiculous loadouts for extra chaos.
Enchanted ammunition, relics, runes, and weapon upgrades combine into wildly different builds every attempt.
A Notable Pedigree
That background is probably the most interesting thing about this reveal beyond the hook itself. A team with both Dave the Diver’s willingness to mash genres together and Counter-Strike Online’s shooter fundamentals is a reasonable bet for a project that needs its gunplay to feel good while its upgrade system runs completely off the rails.
What Happens Next
Guns & Dragons is in active development for Windows PC, heading to both Steam and the Epic Games Store. ABUTTON says more details on game mechanics, playtest opportunities, and availability are planned for a later date — no release window has been announced yet.
For now, the first Steam playtest is the thing to chase. Wishlist and follow the game on Steam for playtest updates, and if you’re at ChinaJoy in Shanghai this week, ABUTTON’s booth is showing it through August 3.
