Two Dates, Two Versions โ Worth Getting Straight
This announcement is easy to misread, because ANOMALITH has two separate release dates.
The game arrives digitally on PC via Steam on October 28, published by FURYU. The PS5 Physical Launch Edition follows on November 12 at $59.99, published in the West by NIS America โ and that’s the edition this partnership announcement is actually about.
PC players get it two weeks earlier. PS5 players get a boxed copy with a substantial bundle of bonus content.

The year 19**. Somewhere, a train that never ends.
Spatial anomalies called “Otherworlds” appeared without warning. The government office assigned to repel them has failed to do either that or work out where they came from.
ANOMALITH is a survival horror third-person shooter set in a Japan overrun by warped environments and creatures called “anomalies,” steeped in liminal-space dread and Showa-era retro aesthetics.
You play Reona Minazuki, an investigator who has just woken from a ten-year slumber inside an anomaly known as the Sarcophagus โ and emerged with an acute sensitivity to the Otherworlds. She’s searching for a missing friend, and protecting humanity somewhat as a consequence.
The Credits Are the Headline
๐ผ Yuka Kitamura Is Scoring This
ANOMALITH has assembled a genuinely notable creative team, and the composer credit stands out even among the rest:
โข Yuka Kitamura โ composer, whose work includes Elden Ring, Sekiro, Bloodborne, Dark Souls III and Witch Hat Atelier
โข Romeo Tanaka โ scenario lead, known for Stella of the End and Humanity Has Declined
โข MON โ character designer, from Nisio Isin’s Legends series
Kitamura’s catalogue is essentially a list of games defined by dread, scale and the feeling that something is very wrong just out of frame. For a survival horror game built on liminal spaces, that’s about as on-target a hire as you could make.
Liminal Spaces, Specifically
๐ An Apartment With Inverted Gravity. A Train That Never Ends.
“Liminal space” has become horror shorthand to the point of losing meaning, so it’s worth noting that FURYU give concrete examples rather than gesturing vaguely at empty corridors.
An apartment where gravity is inverted. A train that never ends. Those are specific, legible ideas โ the kind of thing you can picture immediately and dread properly, rather than a mood board of beige hallways.
Pairing that with Showa-era retro aesthetics grounds it culturally too. It’s not generic backrooms; it’s a particular Japan, at a deliberately obscured point in the twentieth century โ the game gives its year only as “19**.”
The More You Fight Them, the Less Human You Get
๐งฌ The Demi-Humanization System
This is the mechanic doing the thematic work. Because of her sensitivity to the Otherworlds, Reona can acquire and upgrade unique active and passive abilities from the anomalies themselves, through what FURYU call the Demi-Humanization System.
The name says the price out loud. Getting stronger means taking on more of what you’re fighting โ a classic horror bargain, made mechanical. It’s the same trade that powers a lot of the genre’s best stories, and putting it in the progression system rather than the cutscenes is the right place for it.
The moment-to-moment is third-person gunplay against enemies described as erratic and ravenous, with stunned foes open to melee finishers. Careful inventory management and situational awareness are required to stop threats compounding โ survival horror fundamentals, in other words, rather than a pure shooter.
A Lot of Numbers
200+
Investigation Reports
Alongside weapons, attachments and artifacts that dispense good or bad luck while infusing weapons with extra abilities, Reona’s appearance is customisable across nine parts of her figure with over 300 items.
The 200-plus investigation reports are the more interesting collectible. Rather than generic lore notes, they detail the behaviours and mysteries of individual anomalies โ which in a game about studying an incomprehensible threat means your reading material is also, functionally, your bestiary. Between missions there’s a home base with a cast of characters, upgrades to unlock and worldbuilding to pick up.
What’s in the Physical Launch Edition
๐ฆ PS5 Physical Bonus Content
โข “Lost Property Control Organization” collab mission, with an outfit and the “T-6407 J” drone skin
โข “Armed Schoolgirl” outfit triple combo โ three sets including two colour variations โ plus the “Delivery Staff” outfit
โข Consumable sets: Development Material Set, Anomaly Zone Countermeasures Office Set, and 20 handgun rounds
โข Three weapons: Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle, Double-Barreled Shotgun and Prototype Handgun
That’s a substantial package for a launch edition rather than a token pre-order trinket โ three weapons and a bonus mission is real content, not just cosmetics.
