The sky froze over three generations ago, and the State kept the mines open. Now it needs volunteers. Coal Duty is a 1–5 player co-op extraction horror-comedy from Corecrew Games, published by indie.io. You’re a miner whose number isn’t important, sent down with your crew to fill the cart and hit the State’s coal quota in a hole full of things that eat production teams.
A Shift in the Mines
Every shift drops you into a freshly generated mine. Go deeper for a better haul and worse company.
Tickets earned on delivery are the only currency the State recognises. What you don’t report stays between you and the dark.
Between shifts: barracks, a workshop, a tavern, and a smuggler in a restricted area the State doesn’t acknowledge.
Sneak into forbidden zones and build an escape plan. There are multiple ways out, and multiple endings.
Miss the quota and the consequences follow you back up. As the game cheerfully puts it, some miners have reportedly escaped. The State does not confirm this.
