👑 Fat Goblins launches on Steam on November 12 — a 16v16 capture-the-flag war over two chubby princesses, built by a single developer as a spiritual successor to the cult classic Fat Princess.
⚖️ Fat Princess Never Got a Proper Successor. A Solo Dev Is Building One.Fat Princess was one of the most chaotic multiplayer games of its era: two teams, two castles, and a princess to rescue — who got harder to carry the more cake the enemy fed her. It built a devoted following, and then the series quietly faded away.
Fat Goblins picks up that formula and runs with it. Two goblin armies of up to 16 players each fight across medieval maps to rescue their own princess from the enemy fortress while stealing the other side’s back to their castle.
The best part of the original survives, too. You can feed the enemy’s precious princess meat to slow her army down — the kind of gloriously petty tactic that made the original so memorable. And it’s all being built by one person, solo developer Koda Games.
Steal hats. Steal princesses. Feed them meat.
Hat-based hero classes never tasted so good.
One-person studio Koda Games will launch Fat Goblins on Steam on November 12 — a chaotic PvP mix of real-time strategy and team-based capture the flag, with up to 32 players fighting in a hat-stealing, castle-sieging war to see who can rescue their chubby princess first.
Hats Are Classes
🎩 Change Roles Mid-Battle
Rather than locking you into a class at the start of a match, Fat Goblins lets you change roles on the fly by picking up hats on the battlefield — warriors, mages, archers and more. Grab a different hat, become a different goblin.
It’s a smart fit for a 16v16 brawl. If your side suddenly needs ranged support or someone to hold the gate, anyone can adapt in seconds. The release describes the class-changing as “overly serious,” which is exactly the right energy. As it also points out: gamers like hats.
👑 Rescue & Steal
Bring your princess home from the enemy fortress — and drag theirs back to yours.
🍖 Feed the Princess
Stuff the enemy’s princess with meat to slow her army down.
🪓 Build & Defend
Chop trees for wood, build barracks, upgrade your fortress and place catapults.
💀 Necromancer Mode
Resurrect fallen goblins on the battlefield to raise your own undead army.
There’s a resource and base-building layer underneath the brawling, too. Chopping wood, building barracks and placing defences at strategic choke points all feed into the fight — and different modes, including the undead-raising Necromancer mode, shift the strategy and give each match its own path to victory.
The Big Question for Any 32-Player Game
👥 It Needs a Crowd
It’s worth being honest about one thing: large-team PvP games live or die on player numbers. A 16v16 match needs 32 people in a lobby at once, and the fun of a game like this scales with how full those battles are.
That’s a big ask for any launch, and especially for a game from a single developer. The release doesn’t say whether matches can be filled with bots or played at smaller sizes, so it’s something we’ll be watching on November 12.
The good news is that the appetite is there. Fat Princess fans have been waiting a long time for something like this — and if they turn up together on day one, Fat Goblins could become exactly the kind of chaotic community game the original was.
