⚔️ Gate Zero has a release window and its first combat footage. Templar Media have put out a new gameplay trailer showing the EON World and the game’s combat for the first time, and confirmed a Spring 2027 launch on Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
⚖️ The EON World Is Where the Rules Break
This is the part of Gate Zero that’s been least explained until now, and the new trailer is the first proper look at it.
The EON World is a separate dimension where time and space are corrupted, causing the future and the past to collide. People, objects and even ideas are held captive there, frozen mid-existence.
It’s also where the fighting happens. Max ventures in to rescue a friend and comes up against The Kairos — corrupted time-energy enemies — culminating in a boss encounter considerably larger than he is.
Neat detail: kairos is the Greek word for the opportune or decisive moment, as distinct from chronos, sequential clock time. Naming your time-corruption enemies after the qualitative kind of time is a genuinely clever bit of worldbuilding for a game about history being rewritten.
Fight to protect history
A teenage scavenger from 2072 falls through a time machine into first-century Galilee, and finds out that somebody in his own century is trying to delete what he’s standing in.
Gate Zero is a semi-open world, story-rich action-adventure set in ancient Israel, built in Unreal Engine 5 by Atlanta-based Templar Media. You play Max, a teenager from a dystopian future, working through a mix of combat, stealth and dialogue to preserve history and find a way home.
The new trailer is the first look at how any of that actually plays. It follows Max into the EON World, fighting his way through The Kairos toward a rescue and a sizeable boss fight — and it comes attached to a firm Spring 2027 window across three platforms.
The Premise Is Sharper Than the Announcement Lets On
🏴 There’s a Villain, and It Isn’t Rome
The press release describes a “dystopian future” and leaves it there. The store page is a good deal more specific, and it changes the shape of the game considerably.
The year is 2072. An authoritarian regime called UniFi controls every piece of information and erases anything that challenges its version of the truth. Max isn’t a chosen one or a trained operative — he’s a young scavenger who accidentally trips a time machine while running from UniFi and lands in first-century Judea.
So the plot isn’t “teen visits the past.” It’s that UniFi is actively reaching back to rewrite history, and Max ends up defending events he’d only ever heard whispered about.
That’s a much stronger hook than the announcement gives it, and it’s the thing that makes the biblical setting function as a game rather than a tour. You’re not sightseeing through the New Testament — you’re stopping an information regime from deleting it, and the EON World is where that fight becomes literal.
What the Trailer Actually Shows
🌀 The EON World
First proper look at the corrupted dimension where past and future collide, and where things sit frozen.
⚡ The Kairos
Corrupt time-energy enemies. The trailer’s first look at moment-to-moment combat encounters.
👹 A Massive Boss
The trailer builds to a substantially oversized encounter, which is the footage’s centrepiece.
🤝 A Rescue
Max’s route through the realm is framed around saving a friend rather than clearing a dungeon.
🧰 Three Ways Through, Per the Developer
Templar are describing Gate Zero as letting players use their own mix of approaches, which is the claim we’d most want to see tested in a hands-on:
• Combat — the part this trailer finally demonstrates
• Stealth — evading capture is listed as a core activity, not a side option
• Dialogue — a player-driven narrative where Max’s choices define who he becomes
• Abilities — the store page adds a fourth pillar the press release omits
There are also riddles to solve and missions to complete, so the structure sounds closer to an immersive-sim-lite than a straight action game. Whether those three routes are genuinely parallel or whether combat is the default with two thin alternatives is the open question, and one trailer of boss fighting doesn’t answer it.
Ancient Israel, Faithfully Recreated
The historical half of the game is the part Templar have been building longest. Gate Zero recreates Capernaum, Cana, the Sea of Galilee, the Jordan River and Jerusalem, with the stated aim of faithful reconstruction backed by scripture and historical research.
The setting is a land under occupation — the ancient Jewish homeland held by the Roman Empire, with tensions already high when a young rabbi arrives and starts challenging both the occupiers and the established order. Max walks alongside the people witnessing that ministry firsthand.
Worth being straightforward about who this is for: Gate Zero is an explicitly faith-oriented game, tagged Faith and Family Friendly on Steam, and it’s aimed squarely at players who want to experience biblical history from the inside. If that’s your interest, there is very little else like it at this production level. If it isn’t, the time-travel thriller wrapped around it may still land — but the biblical material is the substance of the game rather than a backdrop.
Two Things Worth Knowing
📅 Steam Still Says “Coming Soon”
The announcement gives Spring 2027, but the Steam page hasn’t been updated and still lists no date. Expect that to change shortly — just don’t be confused if you go to wishlist it today and find no window there.
🖥️ The Spec Sheet Looks Old
Steam lists a GTX 960 minimum and a GTX 1080 recommended, on Windows 10 v1803. For an Unreal Engine 5 game shipping in 2027, those almost certainly predate the current build and will be revised.
One further oddity: Steam’s user-defined tags include Co-op, but the official features list says single-player only, and nothing in the announcement mentions multiplayer. Community tags aren’t authoritative, so treat this as single-player until Templar say otherwise.
🎮 Three Platforms, Spring 2027
Gate Zero launches on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in Spring 2027. All three store pages are live for wishlisting now.
No Nintendo Switch version has been announced, and there’s no word on Game Pass or PlayStation Plus. The game supports 16 languages for interface and subtitles, with full voice audio in English, and Steam lists captions as an accessibility feature.

Who’s Making It
🏢 Templar Media — Atlanta, Georgia
A developer, publisher and media company founded by John Gibson, a 25-year industry veteran. Templar describe their approach as “Relational Publishing” — going past funding and marketing into deeper partnerships with development teams — under an “Entertainment First!” philosophy.
🎯 The Track Record
Templar cite experience across Killing Floor, Maneater and Chivalry 2 — three commercially successful action games with very different shapes. That’s a relevant pedigree for a project whose hardest problem is making combat, stealth and dialogue all feel worth using.
Gate Zero arrives in Spring 2027 on Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and is available to wishlist on all three now.
