🗑️ Know this first: it’s eight bucks, it’s short, and it’s made by Rocket League veterans. Off by One Games is a small team founded in 2023 by developers with more than a decade of experience working together on Rocket League. Trash Day is $7.99, supports online co-op for up to six players, and sits at Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam from 827 reviews. Expect roughly 2.5 hours for the main run and closer to 6 if you hunt everything, according to HowLongToBeat.
🦝 Live Your Best Raccoon Life
Every raccoon dreams of Raccoon Paradise. Unfortunately, you and your friends are currently locked up in Animal Control.
Break out, steal a wagon, load it with the finest trash you can find, and haul it across six areas to get there. Use bungee cords, planks and more to get your wagon over, under and through traffic, bear traps, rockslides and a river. Good plan. Terrible execution.
A raccoon heist where the getaway vehicle is a squeaky wagon.
Trash Day’s Next Fest demo landed in the top 50 out of roughly 4,400 demos and racked up more than 300,000 wishlists, and it’s easy to see why. This is a goofy, physics-driven co-op game about raccoons pushing a wagon full of garbage to paradise, and it’s at its best when everything goes wrong. The full game is short, and players are already asking for more. But for $7.99 and a group of friends, it’s one of the funniest co-op nights you can buy this fall.
Our verdict: “Trash Day is a hilarious physics-based co-op romp that shines brightest with friends. If you want chaotic multiplayer fun, it’s absolutely worth your money.”
The Raccoon Heist Plan
Every level is a trip from one end of the map to the other, with your wagon as the star of the show. Here’s what you’ll be doing along the way.
🛒 Haul the Wagon
Push and steer it together. Lose a wheel? Put it back on. Flip it? Flip it back.
🔧 Raccoon Engineering
Bungee cords, planks, seesaws and more get your loot past traffic, bear traps, rockslides and a river.
🗑️ Scavenge Everything
Knock over trash cans and search dumpsters for helpful items, valuable trash, flamingos and piñatas.
🐕 Distract the Locals
Dogs and other animals guard their turf, so you’ll need a plan, or a sacrificial raccoon.
Made for Friends
😂 Good Plan. Terrible Execution.
Trash Day is a laughing-fit generator. One group spent most of their time dancing and throwing items at each other instead of actually playing. Another ate pizza, got run over, got thrown in a trash can, and got bullied by a dog (then bullied it back). Others laughed hardest at breaking their cart. One duo said the little hats and glasses had them laughing like crazy, and that crossing the street with the wagon was even better.
One player praised its balance of fun and silly. Two compared it favorably to RV There Yet?, with one saying it’s a better fit for casual players. One player called the puzzles fun to figure out without being too difficult. You can technically play solo, but as the developers put it, the wagon is a lot for one raccoon.
Live Your Best Raccoon Life
🎩 Hats, Pattycake and Raccoon Stacks
Between levels and obstacles, there’s plenty of raccoon nonsense to enjoy. Wear a hat, stack your friends, launch one off a seesaw, play pattycake, or just eat some junk. You can customize your raccoon, upgrade your wagon’s panels, and take photos with an in-game camera. One player said their group had the camera out the entire time, and they’d love a short video recorder too.
The soundtrack features 22 licensed songs, and the developers say they’re all Content ID free, which is great news for streamers and YouTubers.
Where It Stumbles
⚠️ A Few Leaks in the Garbage Bag
1. It’s short. This is the most common complaint. One player was shocked at how short it was, another finished in about five hours, and others simply wished it were longer. Several are hoping for updates or DLC with more levels, and one wants a possum character.
2. Getting stuck. Physics chaos sometimes means a raccoon or the wagon wedged in a crevice. The launch patches filled many of those gaps, and you can now return to the wagon or restart a level from the pause menu.
3. Solo isn’t the point. It’s playable alone, but most of the fun comes from your crew. Without friends, it loses much of its charm.
4. Controller and Deck support. Steam lists only partial controller support, and Steam Deck compatibility hasn’t been tested yet.
🛠️ Patched Fast
Off by One Games shipped two hotfixes within a day of launch and a larger patch on October 21. The patches add Return to Wagon and Restart Level options, plug many stuck spots, and add stick deadzone settings and tap-to-toggle sprint. They also introduce join codes for inviting friends, improve multiplayer stability, and fix lost loot. Wagon riders can no longer grief the pushers, too. The studio has a Discord for finding a crew and reporting bugs.

The Verdict
Trash Day knows exactly what it wants to be: a silly, physics-driven co-op adventure about raccoons doing raccoon things. It’s easy to pick up, packed with goofy interactions, and constantly funny with friends, whether you’re carefully hauling the wagon across traffic or just launching your buddy off a seesaw. The former Rocket League developers say they deliberately traded precision for slapstick here, and it works.
It’s short, and the biggest complaint is simply that players want more. Solo play isn’t the draw, and the physics can still occasionally trap you. But the developers are patching quickly, and $7.99 for a few hours of nonstop laughing is a great deal.
The honest read: grab a few friends and buy it. It’s one of the best-value co-op nights on Steam right now. Just don’t expect it to last all week.
