Trash Goblin Devs Unveil Gobble Inn, a Cosy Mining and Cooking Game Starring Aunty Val, Heading to Kickstarter October 29

🍲 Dig Down, Cook Up, Repeat Gobble Inn is built around a two-part loop. First you dig down into the Chasm, a capricious, ever-changing mine, breaking blocks and hunting for rare ingredients with your unlockable tools. Then you haul it all back up to the surface, experiment with what you found to discover new recipes, and serve it to the inn’s hungry customers.

Each run is a descent, and every meal you serve raises your inn’s reputation. Spilt Milk calls it a more action-packed genre than its previous game, but it’s still completely non-violent. It’s about feeding people, not fighting them.

Dig it up, cook it up, and keep the goblins fed

Spilt Milk Studios, the team behind the cosy shopkeeping game Trash Goblin and winner of Best Small Studio at the 2025 Develop:Star Awards, has announced its next game. Gobble Inn is a cosy run-based game about digging through a mine for ingredients and cooking for a crowd of hungry goblins, lizardfolk and other customers. Its Kickstarter page is live now, and pledges open on October 29.

Spilt Milk describes every run as “tactile, unpredictable and moreish”, and promises caves that feel close to endless and are packed with blocks to break, goodies to find and secrets to uncover.

Aunty Val Is Back

👵 A Familiar (Grumpy) Face Gobble Inn stars Aunty Val, the cantankerous goblin who became a fan favourite in Trash Goblin. This time the adventure takes her story underground, into the mines of the Chasm, with curséd trinkets to help you dig, and then back up to share the bounty at the Gobble Inn.

Spilt Milk calls Gobble Inn a wholly new experience rather than more Trash Goblin, but it’s aiming for the same feel. In the announcement, creative director Andrew Smith credited Trash Goblin’s backers and laid out what the studio is going for this time:

Gobble Inn is similarly starting from humble beginnings, but we think it captures the positive spirit and cheerful, cosy tone of Trash Goblin, while offering a wholly new experience in a different, more action-packed genre. Yet it’s still a non-violent game full of lovable characters, enchanting stories, and addictive gameplay, set in a whimsical world! In other words, it’s still a Spilt Milk game through and through! From Trash Goblin to Gobble Inn

Spilt Milk has done this before. Smith says Trash Goblin “would not have been possible” without its Kickstarter backers, who supported it all the way from early development through Early Access to 1.0, a run of free updates, and its first premium expansion.

Spilt Milk hasn’t shared a funding goal, reward tiers or a release window for Gobble Inn yet. Expect those details when the campaign goes live.
