☢️ One Step Closer to Ground Zero
“What’s inside Ground Zero could change everything. Yet, we’re still kept in the dark.” Update 0.5 sets you on the path to Ground Zero, and funding that operation won’t come cheap.
Rogue Ops introduces a new gameplay loop built around crafting and building your own Hideout, plus contraband operations that let you build your reputation as a rogue PMC. As the trailer warns: the moment you carry something worth killing for, someone will come for it.
Everything has a buyer. Every move matters.
MADFINGER Games has launched Update 0.5: Rogue Ops for Gray Zone Warfare, its PvE-first open-world tactical shooter set on the quarantined Southeast Asian island of Lamang. It’s the biggest update yet. Alongside the Hideout, you can now create multiple playable characters, explore three new Tier 4 locations, and deal with much smarter AI, along with a streamlined health system, 7 new weapons, and a long list of community-requested improvements.
Build Your Hideout
The Hideout is the headline feature, and it’s a brand-new progression path. Once you reach certain vendor ranks, you unlock your own Hideout and start building your operation from the ground up. It’s split into three rooms, each with stations you build and upgrade (and that visibly change as you do):
🧪 Laboratory
Craft medical items and stims, and produce chemical substances to sell or use in more complex products.
💻 Electronics Workshop
Take apart electronics to extract intel and materials for tracking tags and hacking tools.
⚡ Utility Room
Powers your production rooms, so you can’t skip it.
🔓 Hacking
A three-tier universal hacking tool opens keypad and card-reader locks without a key or code.
📦 Smuggling & Hunting
You can sell what you craft to vendors for a lower but safer payout, or take the risk and smuggle it for bigger rewards. Smuggling tasks are time-limited: prepare the cargo with resources from your Hideout, grab the contraband backpack, and deliver it. But accepting one alerts opposing factions and creates Hunting zones on the map, where other players can intercept you for XP and reputation. In PvE mode, you’ll face AI enemies instead. You’ll also find drug huts hidden around Lamang that you can raid for Laboratory resources.
Three New Tier 4 Locations
📡 RLSL-1
A Soviet-built radio observatory that saw a suspicious influx of troops and repairs just months before the Event.
🏥 Lakevale Sanctuary
An asylum with a dark past. Even the soldiers guarding it refuse to go inside.
🔬 Northern Reach
A heavily fortified military research site sending expeditions into Ground Zero, at a terrible cost.
🗺️ And Much More
More than 15 smaller locations (drug huts, apartments, underground tunnels) and a new Rocky City biome.
🧠 Smarter, Deadlier AI
The AI got a major overhaul. Enemies acquire targets faster, use cover more intelligently, spread out, flank, and come looking for you if you stay hidden too long. Some factions now throw grenades to flush you out, and AI will hunt down and finish off downed players, so teamwork matters more than ever. Injured NPCs treat their own wounds, and out of combat they drink, check their phones and go about their routines. Difficulty has also been increased in the Tier 3 areas (Fort Narith, Midnight Sapphire and Tiger Bay) and the new Tier 4 areas.
Everything Else in Rogue Ops
Characters
Up to 4 characters, one per faction and game mode (PvE or PvEvP). Account wipes are retired

Streamlined: treatment now covers a whole body part, bleeding is reduced, and stims must be crafted

Weapon parts
370 new parts, 22 collimator sights, new 4x and 6x magnifiers, and 40% more durability
Combat Outposts
Major COPs temporarily decommissioned, minor COPs redistributed, and Vulture is now a regular vendor
Audio
No 30-second voice chat limit, Lao voice actors for NPCs, reworked M4 and AK sounds, and better footsteps
Tech
Unreal Engine 5.7, up to 10% higher FPS, HDR support, and 100+ crash fixes
Anti-cheat
Improved detection, and you’re notified when someone you reported is suspended
🔄 The Soft Wipe: What You Keep
Rogue Ops uses a seasonal soft wipe instead of a full wipe. You keep your completed tasks, rank, unlocked apparel, vendor ranks and statistics. Your locker contents, equipment and money are reset. When you first launch 0.5, you’ll choose which mode (PvE or PvEvP) to transfer your existing character to, and that choice is irreversible.
Launch Week So Far
🛡️ Ban Wave & First Hotfix293 cheaters banned: thanks to the improved cheat detection in Update 0.5, MADFINGER has already permanently banned 293 accounts caught cheating during the Supporter Preview and the first hours of public release.
Backend hotfix live: a no-download hotfix fixed an issue where the season transition reset the stash of players who don’t own a DLC edition to its base size (removing space unlocked through rank progression), and an issue where players could fail to connect after waiting in the queue.
