MADFINGER Games has given players a first look at Update 0.5: Rogue Ops, the next major update for Gray Zone Warfare. It marks the game’s official move from pre-alpha to alpha after more than two years of development with its community — and introduces an entirely new gameplay loop alongside a long list of improvements and new content.
Rogue Ops launches on October 22, with Supporter Edition owners getting in early from October 19. Progress made during the preview carries over to the full release.
What’s in Rogue Ops
The headline features are a Hideout you build up and a full crafting system. You’ll also be able to go rogue as a PMC, taking part in brand-new smuggling activities. On top of that come new weapons, enormous new locations, a new tier of tougher enemies, and a long list of community-requested improvements.
MADFINGER is covering it all in a three-part devlog series: improvements first, then new content (weapons, locations and gadgets), then the Hideout and crafting. A Q&A livestream will follow to kick off the Supporter Preview, and there’ll be a launch-day livestream with an in-game event and special guests.
The Soft Wipe: What You Keep and What You Lose
Yes, there’s a wipe — but it’s a soft wipe. MADFINGER is resetting gear and money to rebalance the economy while leaving your hard-earned progression in place.

Improvements Players Asked For
The first devlog focuses on changes inspired by community feedback, and there are a lot of them.
Enemies now throw grenades, heal to stop their own bleeding and use cover more effectively — making them more human, and more dangerous.
NPCs relax when they’re not fighting — on their phones, smoking or chatting — with new voice lines, plus TVs and voice tapes across Lamang.
Spatial audio fixes, a new mid-range tier for gunshot distance, reworked weapon sounds and new atmospheric audio.
Clearer status icons, items that fully treat one body part, multi-purpose kits, new bleeding maths and quality tiers.
Reworked to be places to respawn, resupply and handle tasks — not PvP hotspots. Level 3 outposts are gone, with minor ones spread more evenly.
The voice chat limit is gone entirely — good news for squads and the roleplay community alike.
The Healing Rework, Explained
The medical system is getting one of the biggest overhauls. Most healing items now work on one body part at a time, but fully fix whatever they’re meant to fix there — so one splint mends a whole broken leg, rather than one splint per bone. Some items can no longer go where they don’t belong (no more tourniquets on your head or torso), while others now do several jobs at once: the surgical kit fixes bones and internal damage and stops bleeding.
Bleeding calculations have been rebuilt, so even after a spray of low-calibre fire you’ll have a chance to save yourself. Medical items now come in quality tiers, with military-issue supplies healing faster and lasting longer than civilian ones. Some items, like blood bags and drinking bottles, can be used continuously until you choose to stop. And stims will no longer be sold by vendors — they’re moving to the new crafting system.
