From the director of Spec Ops: The Line and a musician from Nine Inch Nails, the terrifying new title has a demo available now on Steam.
Today, during the Galaxy’s Autumn Showcase, publisher Blumhouse Games and developer EYES OUT, LLC. pulled back the curtain on their surreal new title, SLEEP AWAKE. The first-person psychedelic horror game is officially launching on December 2, 2025, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Set in the last known city on Earth, SLEEP AWAKE thrusts players into a waking nightmare. The populace is in a panic, as a mysterious phenomenon known as “The HUSH” is causing people to disappear in their sleep. In a desperate crisis, the remaining citizens resort to reckless experiments and depraved rituals to stay awake at all costs.
Players take on the role of Katja, a survivor who must navigate this collapsing reality. You’ll be forced to confront otherworldly forces, solve reality-bending puzzles, and survive encounters with devotees of various death cults, all while fighting to shatter the horrors of your own past.
SLEEP AWAKE promises a unique audiovisual experience, blending psychedelic visuals with live-action FMV (Full Motion Video) sequences to blur the lines between reality and imagination. The developer, EYES OUT, was co-founded by Cory Davis, the director of the critically acclaimed narrative-driven shooter Spec Ops: The Line. The game’s “arresting audio experience” is being composed by Robin Finck, the iconic guitarist for Nine Inch Nails.
Key Features of SLEEP AWAKE:
- A Psychedelic Trip: Explore a gorgeous and terrifying reality that shifts between the crumbling physical world and a symbolic, otherworldly realm.
- Unsettling Horror Gameplay: Survive harrowing enemy encounters through a mix of challenging stealth, survival, and intense chase sequences.
- A Waking Nightmare: As Katja, you confront the grief of your past in a disaster-ravaged city where the only fate worse than death… is sleep.
- Hypnotic Audio: A deeply unsettling and hypnotic score from the mind of Robin Finck.
