tinyBuild and developer Fair Play Labs have announced that SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed is launching this July on PC and consoles — and it’ll be available Day One on Xbox Game Pass.
The sequel to the beloved 2013 indie hit brings back the frantic competitive platforming the original was known for, while upgrading the experience with high-definition visuals and improved netcode. Races support up to 8 players, both locally and online, set across tracks inspired by a retro-future 1960s superhero utopia.
The core formula remains intact — run, jump, slide, and grapple your way to the front while using pick-ups like missiles, freeze rays, and traps to knock rivals off-screen. New and returning eccentric superhero characters round out the roster, and the grappling hook is back with a satisfying new twist: you can pull runners in front of you and send them flying.
For competitive players, ranked tournaments and custom challenges offer plenty of depth. For everyone else, private lobbies keep things casual and couch-friendly. Fair Play Labs — the team behind Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 — is handling development, which bodes well for the mechanical polish that made the original its reputation.
SpeedRunners 2 launches on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Game Pass in July 2026. A Nintendo Switch 2 release is also planned for later in the year.
A free demo is available on Steam right now if you want to get a feel for the chaos before launch.
