Valve’s themed Steam fests have covered some fairly abstract territory over the years, and Steam Pins and Pegs Fest continues that tradition with admirable directness. As the Steam Team put it themselves, it isn’t super hard to explain.

🔗 Why These Two Belong Together
The pairing makes more sense than the name suggests. Pinball and peg-based games share the same underlying appeal: you set something in motion, physics takes over, and your skill lies in shaping the odds rather than controlling the outcome.
Peg-based roguelikes in particular have had a genuine surge in recent years, taking that bounce-and-scatter chaos and layering deckbuilding and run-based progression on top. Grouping them with their pinball ancestors is a neater bit of curation than a joke about pins deserves.
It’s also the kind of fest that surfaces games you’d never have found otherwise. Steam’s themed events are at their best when the category is narrow enough to dig up genuine obscurities, and “has pegs in it” is about as narrow as curation gets.
