Amazon Game Studios, Crystal Dynamics, and Flying Wild Hog have officially announced Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis — a full reimagining of the original 1996 Tomb Raider — alongside a release date of February 12, 2027. The announcement landed during today’s PlayStation State of Play broadcast alongside a new release date trailer, and pre-orders are open now across all platforms.
The game is built around the classic original adventure — Peru’s jungles, Greece’s crumbling ruins, Egypt’s deserts, and the mysterious island of Atlantis — rebuilt from the ground up with modern gameplay mechanics, a grappling hook traversal system, modernised puzzle design, and what the developers are calling a cinematic-scale encounter version of the iconic T-Rex confrontation. The classic story has also been expanded with new connections bridging Lara’s first adventure to her wider arc.
