🐔 Know this first: it’s six bucks, and it’s made of clay. Knuckle Creek comes from Claymatic Games, the studio behind Platypus Reclayed, and designer Anthony Flack, creator of the claymation shooter Platypus. It took seven years to make, and as one fan put it, everything in it is hand-modeled from clay. It’s $5.99, or $5.39 until November 12, with a Supporter Pack that adds the soundtrack and a bundle with Platypus Reclayed. It’s Positive on Steam so far.
🥪 Home of the World-Famous Knuckle Sandwich
Welcome to Knuckle Creek, a slapstick comedy brawler designed for friends, fun and light-hearted play. Smash your way through chaotic matches with up to eight players, online or on the couch, in Last Player Standing and Team Battle modes.
Be warned: you’re as likely to blow yourself off the map as your opponents. Even when you’re dead, you can still drop items onto the field, and if you do win, someone might steal your trophy on the playable podium. The stage is set, the chickens are clucking. Let’s go!
Mark Twain meets Wallace & Gromit in a Smash Bros. homage.
When we covered Knuckle Creek’s release date, we knew the Platypus Reclayed team was building something charming. The finished game is a goofy, warm-hearted party brawler where every character, prop and chicken is sculpted from clay. One player described it as a Mark Twain and Wallace & Gromit Smash Bros. homage, and that’s a pretty perfect summary. For under six dollars, it’s absolutely packed.
Our verdict: “This slapstick brawler delivers pure comedic chaos that’s perfect for couch co-op sessions with friends. If you want mindless fun without competitive stress, it’s absolutely worth your money.”

It Shines With Friends
🎉 Chaos, Laughs and Self-Inflicted Explosions
Multiplayer is where Knuckle Creek really comes alive. One group of friends is already adding it to their regular rotation, and another player who waited years through the prototypes and betas said the wait was absolutely worth it. Movement and controls feel smooth, and one player praised the online netcode as great.
Even players who don’t usually enjoy fighting games are won over. One said that while it didn’t change their mind on the genre, it was probably the best fighting game they’ve played. With 20 voice sets, each packed with hundreds of lines, plus contextual taunts and emotes, the humor never lets up.
Plenty to Do Solo
👒 Hundreds of Hats, All Earned In-Game
The 48 single-player challenges are a blast, according to players. They add a lot of variety and act as mini-games that break up the brawling, and they’re where you unlock new characters and hundreds of cosmetic items. Steam doesn’t list any in-app purchases, and players say everything is earned in-game, and nearly every item works on every character. Snapshot your favorite outfits in the wardrobe for themed team games, or just show off in the arena.
Where It Stumbles
⚠️ A Few Lumps in the Clay
1. No server browser. You can invite Steam friends or share an invitation code, but there’s no list of public games to jump into. One player is begging for it.
2. Controller rebinding. You can rebind the keyboard, but not the controller buttons, and Steam lists only partial controller support for now.
3. Blocking. One player’s only real complaint is that you can’t turn around while standing and blocking.
4. It needs a crowd. The challenges are fun, but Knuckle Creek is clearly built for friends. Without a group, its best mode loses some of its spark.
🛠️ Already Patching
Claymatic shipped its first update (1.0.10577) a day after launch. It added an option to hide challenge leaderboards (a Discord suggestion), let robots and sasquatches wear wings, added the Knuckle Creek Theme to the battle music, and fixed a few bugs. The studio says it has started addressing more of the community’s feedback.

The Verdict
Knuckle Creek is a labor of love, and it shows in every lump of clay. It’s a goofy, warm-hearted party brawler that’s easy to pick up, hilarious with friends, and stuffed with challenges, characters and cosmetics, all for less than the price of a sandwich. The art style, music and voice work give it a personality few party games can match.
It’s missing a server browser and controller rebinding, and you’ll get the most out of it with a group. But for six dollars, those are easy to forgive, and the developers are already patching.
The honest read: if you’ve got friends, a couch or a Discord server, buy it. It’s one of the easiest recommendations we’ve made all year.
