🤖 AI Disclosure, Filed on Steam
WarmCore state that AI generation tools were used to assist with store marketing assets (such as capsule art) and some in-game item icons, and that those assets were reviewed and polished by humans afterwards. We flag every disclosure we find.
⚰️ R.I.P. has left Early Access. Version 1.0 adds the melee specialist Ling, the final boss, Endless Journey mode, global leaderboards, new maps and a large balance overhaul — and the game has just passed 250,000 copies sold.
⚖️ WarmCore Explained Their Nerfs in Engineering Terms
Buried in the balance notes is something you almost never see: a studio explaining exactly why they nerfed something, and it isn’t about power.
With Endless Mode now live, players stack far more Tech and event buffs in a single run than before. WarmCore say that meant enormous numbers of visual effects firing at once, putting real strain on hardware.
So they added built-in trigger cooldowns to the most frequently firing [Chase] attacks — a fraction of a second each — purely to cap how many effects can play, and raised base damage substantially to compensate. Fire Tongue went from 37 base damage to 100. Rocket Salvo from 30 to 150. They also trimmed the area-boosting Techs, again for performance.
That’s a nerf shipped with its reasoning attached, and the compensation baked in. Most patch notes would have listed the cooldown and left players to argue about it.
Work has never been so exciting
Vampire Survivors’ endless swarms, Diablo’s gear obsession, and a corporate HR department that reincarnates you when you die.
WarmCore Studio and publisher 2P Games have taken R.I.P. – Reincarnation Insurance Program out of Early Access. The top-down roguelite shooter is out now in version 1.0 on Steam for $14.99 / £13.75 / €15.49 — currently 30% off at $10.49 until September 30.
We reviewed R.I.P. during Early Access and called it what happens when Diablo meets Vampire Survivors in a corporate hellscape. The 1.0 build fills in the ending, adds a new character, and gives endgame players somewhere to take their builds.
Ling, and the Fight You’ve Been Building Toward
🗡️ New Specialist: Ling
Alloy Blade, light armour, high-speed mobility. Her standout trick: a technique that sends ranged attacks back the way they came.
👹 The Final Boss
Fight across four infected regions to unlock the ultimate encounter and finish the story.
♾️ Endless Journey
Clear Risk Level 6 in the Purge Zone to unlock infinitely scaling waves and escalating rewards.
🏆 Global Leaderboards
For Endless Mode and the arcade games — compete worldwide.
Ling is the headline addition, and she changes the game’s shape. R.I.P. has been a shooter about outgunning screen-filling hordes; a katana specialist who needs to be inside those hordes asks something different of your positioning.
Endless Journey is the other big one. It unlocks after a Risk Level 6 win, hands you every Tech faction to pick from freely, and raises equipment drop rarity the longer you survive. Each round also makes you choose one of two Challenges, with the reward attached to whichever you pick — a nice touch that keeps an infinite mode from becoming a straight line.
34 New Mythic Items
💎 Build-Defining, Not Just Bigger Numbers
The 1.0 patch adds 34 new Mythic equipment pieces, and the good ones rewrite how a build functions rather than padding stats:
• Alloy Blade – Boundless: moving creates afterimages, and when you Dash, every afterimage dashes and slashes with you
• Goggles – Branding Eye: your Psionic damage brands enemies; three seconds later the brand detonates for a percentage of all the Psionic damage they took in that window
• Armor (Heavy) – Corrosive Armor: each Psionic trigger eats some of your current health, and your Psionic damage scales with the health you’ve lost
• Boots (Heavy) – Arthropod Boots: Crit Damage scales off your Movement Speed bonus
• Swarm Support Vest: when you take fatal damage, it detonates a nearby Drone to heal you instead
There’s also a new Logistics Robot NPC that appears after you beat a boss or win a run, offering warehouse, dismantle and sell services on the spot.
Everything Else in 1.0
📦 The Full Sweep
• New maps — the patch notes highlight Emberfall, while the update banner points to Resurgam and Skyfort
• Region Investigation system — take missions from Collins in the Intelligence Department at HQ to earn Talent Points, plus 19 new investigation events
• Void Spire now throws random challenge effects at you from Floor 31 up — one effect through to Floor 50, scaling to four effects by Floor 91
• Arcade games — find parts in Infection Zones to unlock R.I.Plane, and earn Essence and Corrupted Crystals for playing
• New bosses, with the banner naming Mech Guardians, Thunder Dragons and Giant Apostles
• Three new languages — French, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese
• Better controller and Steam Deck support, including a new “Reticle Auto-Center” option
• Pacts now stack up to 999 per slot
• New HQ map, new NPC dialogue portraits and animations, and new voice lines for Sona
The Quality-of-Life Fixes Worth Knowing
🔧 Two Changes That Fix Real Annoyances1. The boss countdown is gone. In Purge Zone and Headhunt Assault, defeating the boss no longer starts a countdown — the round timer pauses, and you can leave the boss map whenever you’re ready. Anyone who’s ever been rushed out of a room with loot still on the floor will appreciate that.
2. The elites got easier to read, not just weaker. The monster pass is long, and much of it is about telegraphing rather than raw numbers: the Flesh Tyrant got completed warning indicators and slower turn speed during melee combos, the Sandstorm Lord’s bullet patterns fly slower with wider gaps between columns, the Thunder Guardian’s lightning webs are spaced further apart, and the Sprayer had a bug fixed where its flame effect didn’t match its actual damage range.
That last one matters. In a bullet heaven, a visual that lies about its hitbox is the difference between a fair death and an infuriating one.
