NACON and Midgar Studio have pulled back the curtain on the original soundtrack for their upcoming French-made JRPG Edge of Memories, sharing five tracks via a new Discovery Edition EP that’s available right now on all major digital music platforms.
The soundtrack is composed by Cédric Menendez — who handled the music for Midgar’s previous JRPG Edge of Eternity — and features a remarkably star-studded supporting lineup. Mariam Abounnasr, known for her work on Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and ONINAKI, contributed four tracks. Yasunori Mitsuda, the legendary composer behind Chrono Trigger and Xenogears, created the game’s final theme. Vocalists Emi Evans (NieR, NieR: Automata) and Marion Schneider (Edge of Eternity, Temtem) both lend their voices to several pieces across the EP.
The five tracks in the Discovery Edition EP are “Edge of Memories” (the opening theme, performed by Marion Schneider), “Eline’s Journey” and “The Rift” (both featuring Emi Evans and Marion Schneider), and “The Unyielding Flame” and “Fate’s Crooked Smile” (both composed by Mariam Abounnasr).
Edge of Memories is set on the continent of Avaris and blends third-person action RPG gameplay with French animation aesthetics. Beyond the soundtrack talent, the game’s creative pedigree extends to character designer Raita Kazama (Xenoblade Chronicles X) and writer Sawako Natori (NieR).
