The year is 1714. The War of the Spanish Succession is over, and tens of thousands of sailors have been cast out of the British Navy with nothing but the skills they learned at sea. Some chose poverty. Others chose Nassau. In Pirates Republic, a disastrous voyage leaves you shipwrecked, and getting back to sea means starting over: finding food, crafting tools, recovering materials and bringing a scattered crew back together. Every shelter you build and every castaway you rescue brings you closer to launching a ship of your own.
From Castaway to Captain
Wash ashore empty-handed. Find food and shelter before nightfall, then build a whole settlement piece by piece.
Design ships from the keel up, from nimble canoes to heavily armed frigates, with dozens of weapon types.
Board ships blade to blade, draw your flintlock or musket, and trade broadsides at sea.
Track real caloric values and a varied diet. Run out of food at sea and scurvy does what cannonballs couldn’t.
Ship building is modular: hull shape, mast configuration, deck layout and oar capacity all affect speed, durability and combat performance, and the Steam page promises more than 500 ship configurations. Every playthrough also generates a new Caribbean, with resources, NPC settlements, traders, hideouts and treasure procedurally placed, and dynamic weather that includes tropical storms and hurricanes.
Solo or With Your Crew
You can play alone with a dedicated story questline, or team up with up to four friends in online co-op on persistent servers. Split the roles however you like: one player steers the ship, another loads the cannons, and someone else manages the settlement back home.
