Kraken Express has announced that Windrose, their co-op pirate survival-adventure game, has crossed 1.5 million copies sold since launching into Early Access earlier this month. To mark the milestone, the team released a new accolades trailer today showcasing the reception the game has received so far.
Watch the accolades trailer here:
That’s a remarkable number for an Early Access launch, and the team isn’t slowing down. A substantial patch dropped alongside the announcement, adding over 40 new building pieces for more flexible and consistent base construction, plus more than 50 fixes and quality-of-life improvements covering connectivity issues, SSD load reduction, stability, and general performance.

What’s in Windrose Right Now
For anyone not yet on board, Windrose puts you and your crew in a procedurally generated open world across three distinct biomes, each packed with quests, handcrafted points of interest, and souls-lite-inspired combat. You’ll fight through unique enemies and epic bosses with a varied arsenal — sabers, maces, muskets, and more — while managing faction reputation, trading, farming, fishing, and building out your own pirate haven.
Naval combat is a highlight, with full ship-to-ship battles that can escalate into boarding actions. It’s a hefty sandbox that’s clearly resonating with players.
What’s Coming Next
The team confirmed that a full content roadmap — described as a “treasure map” — is coming in the months ahead. The first major content drop is already confirmed to bring the Ashlands, a volcanic new biome overrun by undead and blanketed in ash. Sounds like a nasty place to sail into. We’re in.
Windrose is available now in Early Access on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Stove.
